Recently I have not been able to lucid dream. Its not a dry spell because I know I CAN, Ive just been too lazy to think about lucidity while going to sleep. I always have intentions to do it but I cant help but think of other things and its really starting to frustrate me. Im thinking DEILD is the way to go, but I dont think I am doing it correctly. When I wake up in bed I lay still with my eyes closed, but what am I suppose to think about during that time? I usually just dont think any thoughts and wait for a visual to form around me, but that doesnt happen when I anticipate it. My question is, what exactly are you suppose to do in addition to laying still with your eyes closed?

Either think about the previous dream you just woke up from, only think about being Lucid in it, or think about a new dream scenario where you're already Lucid. :)

Thanks. Does too much anticipation of a visual forming ruin it?

For me DEILD is just waking up in the middle night, going "Whazzat...? It's still nightime...? I guess I'll just go back to sleep then... *Yawn*" I go to sleep as I would normally. Then, "Wait a second, I just had this same dream 5 minutes ago!" and I'm lucid.

It helps greatly if you don't use an alarm to jolt you awake, which is why I don't really prepare for DEILDs. It's just a pleasant surprise when it happens by chance.

I'm not sure about that. The few times I've done DEILD, I kept myself as calm as possible. I think if you're really anticipated from the start, it will carry over into the dream, and you might wake yourself up. But that's just what I think.

so writing in your dj is a definate no coz that wud require moving... and moving wud ruin it lol so you wake up, realise your awake, shut your eyes (if you havn't already opened them), think about being lucid in a/the previous dream and then whamo easy as that? is there sum sort of transition? or u just sorta appear in the dream?

To be honest I never ever have a visual in my mind when performing DEILD.
Try visualization, but as the DEILD technique is a hastened version of WILD, I suggest you try some variations of the WILD technique.
I like to count my breaths as to keep myself conscious while WILD'ing.
