This is an interesting site that talks about drugs and enlightenment. I would suggest reading the page on drugs and the FAQ. It's about enlightened aliens that I guy go to go visit. It gives some very interesting reasons not to do drugs. I would strongly suggest reading this. It's very interesting.

Very interesting - I read that a couple months back and I've thought about it ever since. On one hand it sounds like the old theory: "Well if it's not true then no big deal, but if it IS true you're screwed! So you may as well believe in it!" But at the same time, it's true that we tend to filter out a lot of the real world with drugs and use them to pacify problems. I wouldn't agree entirely that drugs are completely useless though - psilocybin mushrooms were the very thing which got me started on the whole spirituality thing. It gave me a crash course on emotion, which really stuck with me. It was almost like a reminder. I don't use mush anymore though. I got what I needed, and now I want to explore the beauty of the Universe without crutches. Pot's still on the agenda, but only rarely, and only for kicks, like a dumbass movie :)
Once again, truly insightful read, thank you for bringing it to the forum :)
edit: I don't quite understand the thing about loud noise though. He likens wearing earplugs at a concert to taking anesthetic and jumping into boiling water, but it doesn't quite make sense...Any idea about this?

Was it only me that found that site quite nasty? “If you use drugs, you risk being re-born in your next lifetime as a cripple, retarded or both” The rubbish continues with “Wearing earplugs at discos is much like taking anaesthetic and plunging into a boiling water” im not sure how he reasons that reducing sound levels and saving your hearing is a bad thing seems to me its just some sort of justification as to not go to such places. It becomes more evident that he is seriously bigoted when he talks about amplified music. This website made me sick it just got worse and worse the more I read when I saw there was a story about a ‘young person’ along with the constant plugging of his books I knew for sure he was trying to make you think like him.

You make some good points. I too was wondering about the earplug comparison to anesthetic. It made absolutely zero sense. The one thing I wondered about is his explanation about drugs ruining a culture - was it true that the Egyptians didn't use drugs? And then when their descendents started, the culture fell apart? He left some important things unanswered, and left no references.

Everything has it's uses and everything has it's consequences.
Drugs should be no different---it is the user of that drug that decides how it affects him/her. I've had many enlightening experiences with drugs, and I have no remorse if the public thinks it "wrong".

Great point. And someone who drinks and drives only put him/her-self at risk.
