View Full Version : Brain Literally Rc'ing for reality

Had a dream the other night where I Reality Checked about 3 times and non of them worked correctly but still never concluded I was actually dreaming, it was most frustrating when I woke up.

I found myself in a strange creepy looking house and my subconcious must have decided to do some RC's to determine what state of mind I was in, but the weird thing was that with each check, something wasn't quite right, but my mind kept on looking for reality rather than determining that i was dreaming instead.

Examples : Did the nose plug test and found that although some air passed through my fingers there was also some kind of blockage as if I hadn't blocked my nose correctly and therefore I concluded that I was awake.

I then thought there was still something wrong with my environment so I decided to jump from the balconey I was standing on and vault over the bannisters to the floor below ( about a 10 foot drop ) , my thinking at the time was, if it hurts or I break a leg then I must be awake
I jumped and my fall was quite slow and I felt virtually no pressure on my feet when landing. My conclusion was therefore that I didn't jump from a high enough height, lol.

I obviously laughed when I eventually woke up but felt I robbed myself of a great chance of being lucid. Maybe I've gotten my RC mantra the wrong way round and I'm asking myself "Am I awake or am I dreaming?" rather than "Am I dreaming or am I awake?"

Any thoughts on this or anyone else had this trouble where you're trying to convince yourself you're always in the awake state?

that exact thing happened to me the other day (yesterday) where I would be confused on if i was really awake or dreaming, and I plugged my nose too, and felt the same thing you did, but eventually I concluded I was dreaming... lol

Thanks for the reply Spirit! I guess this is very common, lol. At least we can both laugh at it in the morning even though we missed our chances.

One thing that concerns me though is the fact that you've got such a high LD count and still have this RC trouble :? I suppose if you come back to me with a response that say 7 out of 10 instances work for you then that's not too bad. I am fascinated by how our unconscious minds pick up on our reality checking throughout the day though, so it shows that eventually we'll get the result we're looking for.
