It Burns!

This was absolutely the worst thing I have ever seen. I mean, I had high hopes when I saw the poster with the new black and red coated Wonka, but then...ugh! I mean, I was expecting something of a 2000 refurbishing...but this was completely different. While the original was geared to family audiences, this one seems to be a "Cat and the Hat" type film, for 5-year-olds. Take a look at the last scene in the trailer to see what I mean.

But I'm keeping an open-mind. The new film is not a remake, but more of a book-adaptation. If this is just a selling point, I can forgive but...hmm.

I think that trailer was designed to be a little (ok alot) over the top probably so it doesn't look like previews for all the other Tim Burton films. Whatever though, I love Johnny Depp...and Tim Burton is a genius so I think the movie will be good. I get what you mean by the whole "cat in the hat" thing, let's just hope that is just how the dumbass trailer is designed. BTW I'm confused...I thought it was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...or is that what the old one was called?

The book was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The first film had the title changed, and the new one is keeping the book's original title.

I must admit, the new Wonka does seems pretty devilish and slick in a weird sort of way. The haircut just seems so wrong though...could be that I'm used to Wilder's cut in the original. Anyway, the book was originally supposed to be more of "evil tale". It's got some pretty twisted stuff if you read certain parts. The original film only had one part of this, which was the tunnel scene. From trailer though, it looks like they've turned it into a stupid roller-coaster ride (ala, once again, Cat in the Hat...forgive me though, it's only a trailer, I'm just looking into some things). Might be an indication that not using special effects can attribute to better moments...but again I have to see the flick first.

It says "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with Johnny Depp, but all I see is "The Cat in the Hat" with Mike Meyers. Good Lord.

  :barf:

Just shoot me now, for the love of god!

Search the web for Burton Fanatics and they sound very immature and almost defensive about the whole subject. "It's supposed to be dark! Tim Burton is dark! No one can say otherwise! Come on, the total song is supposed to be like...ya know, like scary movies where little children sing a song like 'Ring around the Rosie', over and over! And the sets, are like, totally scary phsyc like, Alice in Wonderland-freakstyle!!!"

I'd hate to break it to them, but it's a song about freaking chocolate and the man who runs the chocolate factory... :|
