wow...very disappointing. i loved the first one--it was very clever, entertaining, and well done--but this one was just dull...it wasn't interesting at all. perhaps i went in with expectations that were too high? sure, it had some cute moments and a couple clever parts, but i left feeling, "What was the point? What did they *really* accomplish?" i kept waiting for something that would resemble a climax, but it was just a dull placid line througout. even the characters were disappointing...they didn't feel as defined as in the first one; it seemed more like the writers just randomly handed out lines--"let's see...who should say this line..." (quick round of "eeny meeny miney moe")... the movie felt more like a means to an end; i.e. writers got together wanting to come up with something to succeed the movie which would essentially guarantee a good-sized pile of money, instead of a great idea occurring to someone and then a sequel developing out of that. finally, there are two particular characters in the movie (that are essentially antagonists; one recurs from the first movie) who you just NEED something bad to happen to; the little that happens to them wraps up this crappy movie rather consistently.

I just watched this the other day, and I also found it to be dissapointing in comparison to the first chapter. Basically, it was not half as clever, and indeed they are just looking for ways to make it seem witty and complex, when in reality the plot barely is either. A couple of friends had already seen it, and claimed they didn't mind seeing it again with me cause "it was the sort of movie one has to watch twice to understand". After watching it, I completely disagreed with this statement, and told them that imo the first one was much more complicated than this one was. This one just tries to make it seem that way by performing a bunch of innecesary turns, twists and stunts, but none of them really add up to anything in the end.
P.S I don't want to ruin it for those that haven't seen it, but I thought the part where that french burglar guy doesn't even demand evidence to prove what they are saying and he just complies with their agreement, was a bit....erm...unrealistic to say the least. Or just plain stupid, to be more accurate.

Totally in agreement here. The creativity of the casino theft was awesome in the first, but that creativity was lacking in the second I thought....didn't see anything new. The only part I enjoyed was the capuerra (sorry spelling) dance through the lazer beams.

I saw oceans 12 then oceans 11, so I didn't have the problem of high hopes. Oceans 11 was by far better though, I will never forget the twist at the end. The dance through the lazers was cool but not enough to save the film from it's previous success.

I thought it was really cheesy to have Julia Roberts play a person impersonating Julia Roberts
HEY, who's the best actress to play a Julia Roberts impersonator??? Hrmmmm, let me think...OH!!! Julia Roberts....... :shakehead2:
that's when I lost all respect for the movie

my friend claims after the 5th or so time he watched it he started to really like it. apparently, his hobby must be watching crappy movies over and over until they get better. how about that.
