I've been dying to get some too. They used to sell them in normal shops here, but they stopped doing that, probably because of health reasons. So, I don't know where to get them now.

You have to get a prescription- I think Wal-Mart has, them but they have to verify the subscription or it may lead to eye injury. But Wal-Mart is expensive-in the hundreds for a pack that last about 6 months.

You can get 1 day disposal lenses but the colors are basic. (blue, green, hazel and grey.) This is probably the cheapest route to go. If you do not plan on wearing them full time and it's just a one day thing then this is your best route. By law you have to have an eye exam so keep that in mind.:)

I think the eyes are much less impressive when you can tell they're colored contacts.

The reason you go through an optist is that you have to make sure that the contacts actually fit your eyes. Sure, you may have vision that doesn't require correction, but your eye could still be shaped differently than someone else that has 20/20 vision. If you wear ones that are shaped incorrectly, they may not cause much damage over just one day, but over time they could at the least harm your corneas, so I'd say be careful about ordering them randomly. If you did order some, see if your optometrist will check to see if they fit correctly.
I have green colored contacts. I love them. They're not obvious under normal light, but in full sunlight or if artificial light hits them just right, they stand out quite wonderfully.

I would like either green or purple. Actually, I have 13/20 vision.

I wanted the purple, but the only ones they had didn't affect my eye color in a noticable manner. Mine remained still rather blue. Maybe someday they'll come up with ones that will work for me and I can finally have purple eyes.

I know that there are theatrical contacts that can do everything from having an irritated eye to sceleras (sp) that change species. (even draconic eyes, with color covering the entire eye and slit pupils. Some of them are just amazing with their detail) For your purposes, I haven't seen much in the way of colors, but they are out there.
I've seen sceleras with a transparent color to them, and ones that change just the iris color, though I would think that the lens would slide, revealing the true color. In addition, I've only seen them for actual eye colors.
