View Full Version : Public office

A lot of people talk about politics here, and a lot of people seem to think the government isn't really ran the best way it could be. So I was wondering, has anyone here ever thought of running for a public office? And before someone says you have to be rich, I was thinking more of local government and you dont need any money.

I have thought about it and when i am old enough I will. I want to beome president, after I become a represenitive nad a senitor. I really want to be the head of the UN. that is my biggest goal.

with grammar like that the UN might be a little out of your way... but you're a sure-shot for president! :goodjob2:

i tend not to like the people who make their money through talking... politicians, actors, clergymen, and most teachers... all of them have such a tight view of how things 'should' be run. "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" -or something like that. power comes from the people and the people give power to these talkers... not do-ers... sad.

maybe i'm reading too far into it...

I like to say I'm allergic to politics, so no, I don't plan to run for public office. I like to be more of the advice-giver then order-giver /person-who-gets-blamed-if-something-goes-wrong. I do, however, hope to become a translator for a high-level organization, like the UN, or even be the president's personal translator. Wouldn't that be cool! I'm one of the few people in the US who aspire to be on CSPAN.

One of my friend's fathers ran for local office this past November, and believe me, you still need money. I think their family spent close to $30,000 on the campaign and still lost because the opponent had corporate donors.

"the quote". Not "quotes". She's only done it once.

PS: I am good at this game. It's called "picky bitch". And you need a full stop after the second iteration of picky, it reads better that way.

so I win...cause I have won't have to piss in 10 minutes

Edit: I actually did have to piss 10 minutes after I posted, so let's just call it a draw

Yeah I'm interested in politics, I'd love to run as a representative - here in Australia you can still do it without needing the money, if you are clever enough. I think Democracy needs to be changed though because at the moment it is out of date. The president of a democratic country is meant to be of the people, and for the people. In America this is no longer the case, simply because of the money spent. The amount of money needed now means that it would be impossible for the average person from the street to sucessfully run - the family needs to have a lot of cash behind them.

I really think that democracy needs a complete overhaul to stop the massive spending on election campaigns, because at the moment it seems to be obsolete, in America anyway.

But you can't fake sitboy speek, it comes from the heart, and typos. Lots of typos, and bad grammer.

And to Roller, I think that you don't have to have lots of money to run for offic, it really helps, but you don't need it. Bill Clinton was poor and same with Abe Lincion.

Ok I fixed the typo
