Yes, it explains that I have a scar.

Can't we keep the insults in the R/S section?
The method is actually hyperventilation, but still reduces oxygen to the brain. Here is how it works.

During the rapid breathing, you are simulating hyperventilation. Hyperventilation means breathing too deeply or too fast or both, either obviously or subtly over a period of time. This excess breathing causes a reduction in carbon dioxide. This causes alkalosis (High pH--opposite of acidic) of your blood. Alkalosis, in turn, causes increased binding of oxygen to hemoglobin (blood), thus reducing the amount of oxygen available to the body and brain. The brain can only receive 60% of the normal amount of oxygen due to hyperventilation, although 60% is still enough to keep you alive… Along with the blood vessels restricting, less blood can reach your brain. Then you stand up and most of the blood gets pulled downwards leaving you unconscious. The episode, usually starts with a tingling feeling in your diaphragm, spreading to your whole body, you start to lose vision by either white out or black out. Then after standing up, you lose all vision. Noises get fainter, and suddenly you collapse, although you probably would not know you collapsed.

From the MPC forums

EDIT:

Well, I tried it. My curiosity got the btter of me. It worked. I did it on the trampoline. While doing the blow on your thumb part, I was thinking this isn't gonna work.

Then I woke up rather confused, dizzy, and slightly nauseous in a laying position. It was weird.

Temporary hypoxia (on the scale of a few minutes) is not harmful. Still, deliberately trying to achieve this would be extremely dangerous and unbelievably stupid. People die over that sort of thing.

That explains things. Wait, Mark said that first, crap. Damn you Mark!

That probably did cause brain damage Noogah. That in turn would explain some of your odd behaviours. The truth hurts.

Jesus, would you jump off a cliff to see what it was like?

You do know that that crap disrupts nervous signals as well? What's amazing is you even admit that it's a bad idea before doing it.

You're insane

Well, I knew it had side effects but wanted to know what they were specifically because a load of kids do it at my school and I was wondering what sort of damage they were doing to themselves.

LOTS. Cerebeal hypoxia can cause numerous neurological deficencies and problems. Your school is full of morons.

It seems that hyperventilating is quite different than jumping off a cliff.

FYI, I did an abundance of research on the topic before trying, photo, and determined that trying it once would not put me in any danger. The technique emulates the exact same process that occurs during normal fainting. Doing it once is perfectly harmless, other than a headache and possible nausea.

I made myself hyperventilating alot in highschool because it was fun. But not enough to loose consciousness, but just enough to get "high". I never blacked out, but I heard it's a terrible feeling.

I like to go to swimming pools and breathe in water so I can go unconsious, and the lifeguards have to bring me back through CPR. It makes me black out and stuff. All the cool people are doing it.

During class in the 2nd grade, I was standing in front of the room with a few other kids for a demonstration and the teacher was talking so I started to make my face red(I can't explain how to do it-like pushing out your crap) to make my friends laugh, and I blacked out for a couple seconds. The teacher started yelling at me and I couldn't remember much =/ she thought I was playing around.

I blacked out at a knife show, due to blood sugar problems from not eating for too long. Not pleasant, but the nurse on location was rather cute and well attentive.

I can honestly say I've never fainted. But I came extremely close to doing so innumerable times over the summer, due to unmanageable anxiety problems.

Twice, unintentionally. If I get very focused I sometimes just stop breathing. The first time was just before my foot surgery last year. I hadn't eaten that morning so that was likely part of it, but then I was watching the nurse try to put the IV needle into my arm and on her third attempt I felt like I was going to hurl and my vision went black and my hearing started to go. I didn't know I'd passed out at first, but then I realized that I was laying down whereas I had been sitting up.

The second time was a week later when getting the stitches out. Now I just look away and remind myself to breathe. I tolerate pain fairly well, but if I sit there waiting for it, I just stop breathing.

It wasn't fun, mostly because I was sure that I was going to throw up. I'm still surprised that I didn't.

I've never fainted, but I've been knocked unconscious due to head trauma. Was trying to do a backflip in a pool, when I was little, and I didn't get out far enough and smacked my head on the side. When I woke up, I was being pulled out of the water by strangers.

I also passed out on whippits, once.

Twice, unitentionally.

First was walking into school then next thing I had a sore head and was getting up off the floor.

Second was because of some weird reaction to anesthetic in Spain. My vision went blurry and my hearing was distant. It was like a slow, tumbling feeling.
Then I was throwing up and felt great. Haha...

I'd never heard of "the choking game" before. It kind of reminds me of a game my little brother and I made up called marble blowing. Right up there with elbow wars...

Christ Snowy,
Looks like that game is well-known! I never heard of that shit, ever. When I was talking about hyperventilating myself it was because of my biology teacher, he once said if you breath to much and to deeptly you'll feel all weird and maybe pass out.

Anyway, I never passed out and I think that's a good thing. Sometimes during Extremly warm summer days, when I go upstair really fast my vision gets all black but never fainted.
