Am I doing reality checks right?

this is what I do: I look around and ask myself 'Am I dreaming' and look around then I'll try push my fingers thru the palms of my hand and then plug my nose and see if I can breathe theu it. It takes me around 1 minuet and 30 seconds everytime I reality check am I doing it right?

Yep, but incase they fail try the counting fingers, flip light switch and look at a clock look away then look back at it and see if changes (same applies to words).

Last night I had all of these reality checks fail on me and I nearly lost lucidity except the counting fingers one, so yeah definately have
a few of these up your sleeves incase one or more doesn't work.

      I back that fingers counting.
I don't see anything wrong with your RCs. Just remember that everyone is different therefore you shall do your RCs how you feel, not how someone else does it.
If you feel like it, please take a look at my YouTube channel:

Fundamentally, it needs to understood that you are rewiring your brain to incorporate a new faculty: reality testing.

This might seem crazy, at first, to comprehend how to do this. But when you begin to relate to your non-lucid dream experiences, then you'll be able to understand exactly why you are doing reality checks: in your dreams, you're completely oblivious to reality.

So, when you do reality checks, it can't be stressed enough the need that one recognises, "I am here, I am aware. I do know that I am not in a dream, oblivious to my reality." (There's no need to actually vocalise this, it's just a state of comprehension more than anything else)
