Using Blindspots for fun and profit

Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams. Unfortunately, attention is a limited resource. You can only focus your attention on so much, so that leaves blind spots, much like your blind spots when driving a car.

Nothing can exist in these blind spots. So for dream control purposes, that makes them a very powerful weapon, both offensive and defensive. You can move a blind spot onto incoming attacks to neutralize them, or just move it over something to get rid of it.

While these blind spots may destroy everything in their path, they leave creation in their wake. A blind spot is any area you're not putting attention into. Pouring attention into a blind spot dissipates it, necessitating the creation of content to fill that void.

You can probe and collapse these blind spots in different ways. Reach into them physically to pull stuff out or feel around. Turn and look. Probe it with your hearing, or just reach around in it with pure attention. If you want to create something specific inside it, you need a focal point for your attention that is related to your target to act as a seed. Plant something in that void, a sound, a smell, an image, a memory, and generally speaking the dream should form around that seed once the void retreats. Results may vary wildly, but that depends entirely on how you were focusing your attention.

Pay close attention to how things are created in the wake of your blind spot. Try to notice how what you are paying attention to influences the outcome of what is created. Once you figure out that correlation, then you can master dream control.

There you have it, the blind spot, both the ultimate weapon of destruction and the ultimate creation/genesis tool. All made possible by a complete absence of attention

This would often be the postition that a blind spot would form but that does not mean they can't form other places. It requires your attention to "see" something in a dream so anything that is visual is not a blind spot.

Yes, that's one of them. Practice using the blind spot behind you. Try moving it over stuff, see what happens. But the blind spot needn't be behind you, it could be in front of you in plain sight. I think once you get used to using the blind spot behind you, making one in front of you will make more sense.

Dreams form through a process I call Archetpal Chaining. Everything in a dream is an archetype, the sum total of associations to any given topic. As you focus your attention on something in the dream, it begins to manifest it's varied association. For example, the beach could manifest life guards, bikinis, dogs catching frisbees, sharks. This will continue until one of those manifested items captures your attention, becomes your new focal point or seed, and then it begins to manifest it's associations. So from the beach example, two likely manifested attention traps (for me at least) would be the bikinis or the sharks. Changing focus from the beach to the shark will dramatically change the dream from a relaxing beach dream to a potential nightmare (depending on how you feel about sharks)

Most of the time the focal point is something visual in the dream, but it doesn't have to be. You can interrupt the "natural" process of your wandering attention randomly locking onto various things as seed points, and insert something new instead. Forcibly inserting new things can disrupt the narrative of your dream because what you insert is usually not at all related to the dream so far. When the process happens naturally, the chain of associations are closely related similar to the concept of Seven degree of separation.

WHenever possible, I prefer to use something already in the dream rather than trying to forcible insert something with my imagination, because it's easier to focus on. For instance, in one dream I was shot and the blood was bleeding down my leg. I focused completely on the blood running down my leg, so that my blind spot covered everything that wasn't my leg, contextualized it as menstrual blood, and used that to transform myself into a woman. Once I pulled my tunnel vision away from the blood on my leg, everything was female parts. I'm probably the only guy to ever have a period in a dream

Thanks a lot for the idea, it's a great base to work on. Dreams are just life without sensual input, so what you see is what you expect, from memories, imagination, etc. So for example when you imagine a lightsaber existing in the back side of the room you are in, it will form there.

      FANTASTIC!
