Someone help me venture into Space!

Right basically I'm struggling very much in getting to space in my lucids. Its one of the lucid goals I've had for a while and I've been putting a lot of effort into getting there in most of my recent LDs. I think I've had about 7 LDs trying to get into space. I've tried flying to space, the closet I got was to the edge of the atmosphere (pretty cool). I've tried summoning a portal, ended up in the void. I've even tried just floating upwards into it.

Maybe I have now, after so many attempts got into a mindset that getting to space = difficult. Even when I fly it seems to take ages before I get anywhere and by the time I'm close to space I've been in the LD a while and wake up. Could this be because in real life we think of space being so far away that in my LDs it takes me a while to get there? Also recently every time I've tried to fly to space I can't even fly?! I mean I've never had this problem before I've always been reasonably good at flying.

So does anyone have any ideas? Or anyone who's been space what do you do, fly, transport etc?

It's one of my huge goals as well!

I think you are right. If it seems difficult, then it's gonna be difficult so you might want to start by trying to change your mindset a little. Tell yourself that you can do anything.

And I mean.... space starts at ~100km above our heads. That's not too far, right? It takes the space shuttle less than 10 minutes to reach an orbit! So have you ever tried getting there in a vehicle? Just sit in the space shuttle, experience this awesome launch, and after a few minutes you will be in space! It all comes down to expectation. Just believe that the space shuttle will bring you to space... because... simply that's what it's supposed to do (or was supposed to do): bring people to space. I'm sure this will work for you. Give it a try and tell me how it went.

Good luck! And take some photos up in space to show once you're back down on earth, haha

Came here to say exactly what benni said. Take a space shuttle!

You could also open that weird door in your house that you've never opened, pretty sure that leads to space...

Just be confident in your abilities, you're perfectly capable

Haha, right I may have to try this space shuttle technique. The journey up to space may be then as interesting as the experience in space itself. I think I'll grab a few DCs as well, that may be funny. I'll just this goal fresh, next time I will do it

Oh yea that 's what was my second thought as well - just using the space shuttle because it's so much fun! Maybe you should watch some videos of space shuttle launches. I do that quite often and I just love it.... The countdown and the ignition and then talking to the tower....
STS-131 Launch via Space Shuttle Discovery in HD - 04/05/2010 - YouTube ohhhh my goodness "houston discovery, roll programm!"... ahh gives me shivers every single time hahaha... You can use it as a help for visualisation.
Even if you fail you can try it many more times because it's so much fun!

Oh and one more thing: don't think about your failures. The more you think about them, the more importance you are giving to them which has a negative effect as well. You know you can do it so just move on and keep going

I want to get to space too. Maybe you could teleport to a space shuttle in space and then go out, instead of having to wait for the shuttle to get out of the atmosphere

Yeah I hear that. The space shuttle launch would probably be a whole lucid in itself, so teleporting to one already in space would probably be better for me to explore space.

YES! Just watched it, I'm definitely going to do it now. That's another lucid goal to my list now!

I've been trying to fly into space as well and hasn't worked for me yet. I either lose control of my flight and start falling back down toward earth or just wake up. I might try the space shuttle idea or also I'm thinking of just converting a regular car into a space shuttle as I'm driving it and just taking off into space that way.

Maybe think of it as you're already in space but stuck to huge lump of rock! Maybe you could try pushing the earth away from you or see the earth implode, thus leaving you alone in space.

In my opinion, you're wasting your time trying to fly into space without a ship.

The problem is that in order to have movement, you need to be moving relative to something else. As you get farther and farther away from the earth, you begin to lose all your reference points, and as a result you lose all sense of movement. On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you fly too fast to close to the ground, everything blurs out, and again you lose all reference points. This often results in waking or getting dumped into the void.

You could come up with creative ways to get around that. Bring some other people or satelites to fly with you. Portals or teleportation. Personally I'd use a ship.

I have 2 techniques that gets me traveling to space.

      Zoom out
I'm on the ground or hovering in the air. Then i look at the ground and have my arms open. Then i close them slowly like i'm doing a zoom out on a giant tablet or smartphone. Looking at the ground i see it zoom out and i see the Earth getting smaller. A couple of zoom outs after, i'm in space.

      Singing about space
Have a song that reminds you of space and sing it in the dream. You'll have your mind set in that goal and elements of space will appear (planets, stars, etc.)
A song that does the trick for me is a song of an animated cartoon i saw when i was a child, called "Once upon a time...Space". Because the song and images are stuck in my mind, whenever i sing this, i go to space.

That's a great idea. Going to try that. I haven't been able to get into space yet...something seems to go wrong every time I try. I think this will work though.

It took me until LD 70 to get to the moon. My DG showed me how (more info below). I tried probably... 30 times. Having a DC help you is an easy way to learn dream control in a way that will stick. You can try any form of dream control around here and see which one fits. The cusp has a part of the forum fully on the nature of dream control. if it is over your head, you can try more simple ways, but it is an interesting read anyways.

teleportation is still the easiest way to travel. no wait time

Interesting point, I use the moon or stars as reference points to fly into space, at first I had a DC with me though like you said. He showed me walk control of my lucids. Dream here:
Moon Sharing - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

Still one of my favorite dreams, and it is hard to forget since I use walk control all the time in LDs, and it is one of the few times I have seen the old man.

Just be sure that if you are able to accomplish your goal, you don't end up falling or loosing control. I remember as a kid dreaming about riding a rocket or something and then the dream ended when the rocket vanished and I started falling, which woke me up. Lol. Not a fun ending to a dream.

I had a lucid where I just wanted to see how fast I could go, not really going anywhere in specific other than faster. Got into space, had stars in the back ground and asteroids and planets zooming by the foreground. Kept going faster and the stars were shooting by the foreground with galaxies stable in the background. Faster still and the galaxies were gone too, and now everything is just streaks of light in an almost tunnel, faster still and even those streaks blurred out into uniformity and just like that I lost all movement. It wasn't even like I stopped or slowed down, those concepts just had nothing left to be applied to. Welcome to Voidsville, population: me.

If you need to get somewhere specific in a dream, you've got to stop thinking linearly.

Tried this last night and it worked great. Although once I got into space I didn't really have anything planned so I just fell back to Earth, which was quite a fall!

Usually I wake up from falling after trying to fly, but this time instead of panicking from the fall I aimed myself for the ocean and I didn't wake up when I landed

I have a favorite "place" that I go to when I need to escape from tension or the busyness of the day that keeps me awake. I imagine that I am in a cave (with an atmosphere) on a moonlet of Saturn which is gravitationally locked in a manner such that the opening to the cave constantly faces the planet and its rings. My vista is totally dominated by the planet and the rings. No one can see me, reach me, nor can I see or even think about anything other than the view while I am there.

In order to get there on nights when I'm having difficulty sleeping, I imagine I am surrounded by a body-hugging incredibly hard transparent shell which is capable of moving wherever I mentally direct it at incredible speed. If I concentrate, the trip takes about 30 seconds. Departure is usually accompanied by a Star-trek like sound used in the TV series when the Enterprise jumps to warp speed. Works for me...perhaps you can adapt something like that to accomplish your off-world LD travels.

The Zoom Out technique worked for me twice so far, although both of my space flights were kind of weird. The first one instead of star I was seeing animals and other objects flying past me. The second time it was just darkness that turned into grey and then lead to a false awakening. But the technique is great for actually getting out into space...thanks for the idea!

How about you're already in space once you're in an LD, remember the world around you isn't composed of matter, time or energy so the laws of physics don't work. Those laws also determine where you are in space so without those rules you're everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...

One I was in this futuristic spaceship and I looked out of the window, but I could just see the space scenery there, kinda like a background or a stage. I couldn't get out of the ship, and I didn't know how to drive it, so I just basically stayed on board the entire dream.

I would love to get into space as well! Specifically I'd like to work a shift on the ISS and to fly to Mars and meet the super awesome society which inhabits the planet!

      well,

sometimes your form of consciousness is limiting to your dream abilities, but if you are aware of your energystate you shouldn't have trouble shifting. Try to imagine yourself as a star of light. Ask your dreamguides to help you reach the place. speak to the sun as if it were a living spirit and say: show me the way to a nice place for me in space, help my fly to venus, or mars. Help me get to the Gilese system's earthlike exoplanets. we need more clairvoyants studying the heavens! If you and I and all the other dreamer with passion out there give it a go, we will find ourselves to be quite, "unalone."

I suggest taking on the form of consciousness as a point of bright yellow light, like the sun. You should focus on your breath in the dreamstate and inhale according to your intent. To fly an astronomical distance with an earthbased mentality can take ages. Try phasing your focus away from the place you are, and fading in to a distant object like saturn, and see it before you, hovering there. you will know what is illusion and what is real!

      hope that helps some.

good luck! and let me know if you see anyone with a bad combover around HD 5662b, dude owes me like 50 bucks!
