Did you just start lucid dreaming recently? Sometimes it can take a few weeks of having lucid dreams to be able to stay in them for long periods of time.

One thing you can try is stabilizing the dream in order to prolong it. The most common way I do it is to rub my hands together, noting the feeling of friction between them. Your main goal is to activate as many senses as you can. Feel it, smell it, taste it, it's all important. You can find a tutorial on using it here: Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

And if you're looking for dream control tutorials, you should check out our wiki. We have a couple tutorials about different aspects of dream control, including the one above. You can find those tutorials here: DV Tutorials - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

What spellbee2 said about being new to lucid dreaming could be the cause is on point.
When I first started my LD's were very cartoon-like.

To fix this, whenever I got lucid I would just calm down and take 10 seconds to absorb my surroundings I would feel the texture of the wall and how real it felt. Once I felt absorbed in to my surrounding I would shout "Increase clarity" and it really helped a lot and has helped heaps of people from what I have read.
