      Question What is it? Help

I woke up in a FA, and I knew I was still dreaming (I performed RCs in a dream b4 this FA), and I was fully lucid, but I couldnt stand up from my bed. I took some minutes to stand up, I felt my body was SOOOO heavy like I was trying to lift a bull with my back. I lost my dream's quality and then I woke up.

Have u experienced that? Difficulty to MOVE after a false awakening? I've had that twice. The other one, I got out of my bed and I felt like my back was paralized. I could walk but it was so hard. halp

      Hey,

I call it dream paralysis. My theory is that you're so close to awakening that your dream is getting input from your actual physical body (kind of how an alarm sound can seep into your dreams). Because your body is however immobile (and possibly in actual sleep paralysis), you cant move in the dream.

Try not to focus on your body. Ignore it as much as possible. Focus on other sensations. Look around, try to hear things, think about where you want to go (rather then the fact that you're not going at all). In dreams, the more attention we give something, the stronger it gets. If we stop paying it attention, it often fades away.

      Just my 2 cents,

I'd never had a name for it before, glad I read your post Red. Good advice as well.

I've found it helps to look for some physical obstruction that's keeping you from free movement. Like exercise weights around your ankles, a monkey on your back, or a needle with tranquilizer in your arm. Then you can remove the obstruction and continue in your dream.

That's a nice concept! Thanks for the advice.

I've had a odd experience once, I was dreaming that my friend took my foot and started to twist it, and it was really painful because my foot was actually broken, so I felt my body in my usual sleep position and I could feel the sleep paralysis, I could feel I was trying to move to make him stop but I couldnt, but I wasnt in a full sleep paralysis, I was inside the dream but could feel my non-dream body. What was that? A semi-sleep paralysis or what? Probably if I had woken up, I would get into a full sleep paralysis.

Thanks for the advice again and I'm sorry my english isn't that good.

Something I like to do when struggling with any movement is switch to imagination movement. If it is your body that is connecting with waking body, then this will work pretty well to keep you in the dream as well. Just scroll down to the red part labeled "imagination movement"
