      Dream Stabilisation Attempt

After spotting something strange in my dream last night I became lucid. I ran outside.. it was Chefchaouen, the blue city, in Morocco.

I did the following to try and stabalise the dream:

      - Rubbing my hands together
      - Doing basic math in my head

I think I got too excited though, because it was my first lucid dream in years (I've only been trying again recently)

I started running and then floating quickly till I was in the stars. I saw the moon in kalidascope shapes (like crop circle type things) and then I woke up. I'm not sure at what point, but I tried rubbing my hands again. The second time everything faded and then I woke up

Can anyone give me advice on how I can stablise the dream next time?

My favourite technique is lay on the ground, lick the floor, scream or sing and rub your belly hard agains the surface of the ground. It may looks strange, but it is very effective...

I will try those! Have you ever tried creating rain? I have read a few threads mentioning that as a technique

      Cheers

A good stabilization technique is any that engages your senses. So even ones as silly as what Nfri suggested will work, since you're activating your sense of touch and taste. I've stabilized by rubbing my hands on object around me, and once did it by licking my arms because why not.
"Going through life worrying about the little things is like cooking with motor oil instead of cooking oil. Sure, you can still probably pull it off, but it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth in retrospect." - Me, apparently

Really good answer! I can see how summoning work or any of the other techniques mentioned above would work. When I was rubbing my hands in the dream I wasn't really thinking "engage your senses".. with this mindset I think I'll have better dream control

      Cheers

Same issue happened to me yesterday. I tried to rub my hands but I did not put too much thoughts into it; and the dream faded away. I had success with the spinning technique other times. Maybe because spinning is funnier, it's best to stabilise the LD.
