Control using senses other than sight

Controlling the dream by manipulating senses other than sight seems very successful for me. I would like to apply this strategy to other forms of control.

I already use this strategy when summoning. Of course I'll reach in to my pockets for pocket-sized items. For larger handheld items, I'll reach out with my hand(s) to the side and imagine being handed the item of my choice. For non-handhelds items, I'll feel around for the object behind me using my feet or hands. For DCs, I'll put my hand behind my back and imagine them touching it, also asking them questions and listening for certain answers if I need to be more precise in my summoning.

For teleporting, I'm thinking I would my cover my eyes with the palms of my hands and imagine hearing, feeling, and/or smelling the destination I want to teleport to. Then once I'm convinced I'm where I want to be, I would uncover my eyes. I'm confident with this, but simply closing my eyes would be easier if I didn't have the problem of looking through my closed eyelids.

I want to be able to get rid of pesky DCs as well. I figure I would either first turn my back to them or cover/close my eyes before imagining them going away using my sense of sound by making them go silent or by hearing them walking away. However, I'm not sure what I would do if this didn't work.

Some animals I want to transform into are those whose jaws are in my sight, like dolphins! Being able to close my eyes would be ideal, but if I couldn't I guess I would cover my eyes with my hands and close them as well. Maybe in this case watching my jaw form would be easier. Regardless of sight, I would like to learn how to get rid of my dream body altogether to start from scratch without my human body getting in the way. I figure I would have to completely banish my sense of touch, but I don't know what I would focus on to do this. After getting rid of my dream body, I would simply try to feel my new body until I feel it.

I'm excited to try some of this stuff, but I could use some help with my problems of seeing through my closed eyelids, getting rid of my dream body, and banishing DCs that are harassing me. Thanks in advance!

      Great post, dolphin!

I find it easier to "summon" things without seeing them as well. Just as you said, just reaching in the pocket knowing that the items are in there. Or walking behind the corner to pick up what you wanted, because you know it's there.

I practiced "summoning" Tahiti. Just imagining it behind me then turning around and it worked.

I think it's easier without seeing it, because this way we don't have to actually create anything. We let our mind create and do all the heavy lifting. Like with coins in my pocket, lucid potion bottle or Tahiti. I just imagined coins, potion, ocean and palm trees. But not details as how they look or their size or placement. My mind did a splendid job creating them without much help from me.

I gotta try the "feel behind me" for things in my next lucid. I wonder what I'll find :giggle:

I've never really tried to summon random objects before. That would be interesting!

Last night, I tried to cover my eyes with my forearm but I could still see through it. Today I was thinking I was going to scrap the idea of covering my eyes, but then I remembered the Cusp's first law of dream control: In order for something to exist in a dream, attention has to be on that something. So, for failure to exist in a dream, my attention has to be on failure. Same with success. So in theory, to solve all of my dream control problems all I have to do is divert my attention from failure to success. If I don't want a body, I have to divert all of my attention away from my body. If I don't like a DC, I have to divert all of my attention away from that DC.

Maybe I should give sight a chance to see this theory in action. I could try to hold out my hand, look at it, and try to divert all of my attention to holding bacon in it. I think I should focus on what I want to happen in the future until it happens in the present. That way, if bacon isn't in my hand, I'm not focusing on not having bacon.
