Negative streak with dream control and portals

      Hi,
I recently improved my lucid score from one per month to two/three per week since when I started to use Naya's simple MILD. Unfortunately I'm still having big struggles with dream control, probably caused by my expectation of failure.

Most of my lucid start in my bedroom, or in closed environments. I don't enjoy that so the first thing that I do, after stabilizing the dream, is to find a way out. My favorite way is to pass through the mirror, doors and windows also do the trick. I couldn't pass through a wall till now.

But ultimately is failing every time. I teleport mostly to another room or back to the bed. Yesterday I expressed my intention to teleport outdoors during the mild meditation and the mantra, but when the dream started (after a very intense sleep paralysis with hallucinations where my girlfriend was attaching me) I passed through the mirror by expecting to teleport outdoors and as a result I woke up -_-'

How can I revert this negative streak? Passing through mirrors or windows always worked for me before.
      Thanks for your help!

Still in the negative streak. Yesterday I completed my first wild, everything like in the manuals. It was the most realistic dream ever. Just a particular was different. The wardrobe was my old one. I managed to move through the space instead of trying to walk like in real life. Unfortunately when it came to pass through the mirror I was back to the bed. Grrrrr

It starts to become very frustrating.

I'm very much in the same position your are in. My lucids also often start in the bedroom and I've also had methods of teleporting that consistently worked before but fail me now, so I am also looking for a new way to teleport.

I used to be able to simply lose my eyes so everything became dark and the dreamscape was erased so that I could imagine a new dream scene so it would appear. However, I started being able to see through my closed eyelids so that wouldn't work anymore.

After that, I got the idea that there is a void under the dreamscape and all I had to do to enter it was phase through the floor. To phase through the floor, I would just pretend a hole was in the ground leading to the void and jump into it. This is still a very effective way for me to enter the void, but lately I haven't been able to make a desired dream scene appear from the darkness.

I have an idea to teleport that I haven't tried yet: we can imagine we are in a television, summon a remote control, and use it to change the "channel" and therefore the location of the dream. If the changing texture of the ground is a distraction, we can have our feet off the ground before changing the channel. I'm going to try this.

There's some more ways to teleport here: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...-teleport.html

I often use the curtains next to the windows and swing down to the ground below.

You can also try zoom teleportation - look out the window ideally to a place you want to go (you can also change the scenery to fit your specific goals). Keep focusing on what's ahead until you are transported there!

Another way would be to summon a huge TV screen with the place you want to go to and then enter it.

Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.

Ooooooo the old negative expectations. I get that too sometimes! A while back I asked Sageous for some of his sage advice to help me and what he told me completely cured me of my negative expectations. Instead of trying to summarize I will just copy/paste the message for you. I hope he doesn't mind!

I think the best solution to this lies not in negativity but in memory, or lack thereof.

What might be causing this is that, though you are lucid, you have not fully accessed your memory (like you have, ironically, on the occasions that you "forget" that you can't control you world). If you are unable to remember, fully, that this world you are in is entirely one of your own creation, and is not the physical world, then you will indeed doubt that you can make changes to it.

So next time you are lucid and feel like you haven't enough control, or perhaps that there are things in your dreamworld that are beyond your control, take a moment to remember. The easiest thing to remember is that your actual body is right where you left it, asleep in bed... this helps on a couple of levels, both to reconnect with memory and to remind you that the dream body you are occupying is not real. This is basically remembering to remember, which is critical to succesfully upgrading your lucidity.

Of course the neat trick is finding the mental wherewithall during your dream to remember to remember. This means that you should do some daywork to prepare your mind to do this. There are a lot of options for this, including adding a moment to your RC's to remember where you were and what you were doing fifteen minutes ago, but a little research into MILD exercises might help you find a routine that works for you.

That's my take on your question; I hope it helps!

      Best of Dreams,

      Sageous
Any time that I have had dream control problems since then, I just remember what he told me and remember to remember in my dreams and I become a lucid master again! I hope that his advice helps you as much as it helped me!

^ That's a really good idea. I've long suspected that negative expectation could be a part of my chronic control difficulties; there are certain things in particular that I seem to have developed some kind of idea of being very difficult to do despite knowing there's no real reason for this to be the case. What Sageous says about memory isn't in itself news to me by now, but I don't know if I ever considered it in the context of attempting dream control in dreams. This is definitely something I want to try to remember next time.

Thanks for posting that, AnotherDreamer (and Sageous).

Hey guys, I'm having a situation that makes it almost impossible to lucid dream (I became father) so my lucid counter doesn't move a millimeter. Bit thank you guys for the answers. Hereby my comments:
      - I can't summon for now; so I can't try solutions that require summoning objects. Or I can but that would distract me from my real goal.
      - thanks another dreamer and Sageous I have to try this one as soon as I can lucid dream again. My recall is zero in this moment and so is gone the possibility to recall other dreams and visualize. Luckily I was having a very vivid dream last night before my girlfriend woke me up because the baby was crying (grrrrr). So I have material for the next nights.
