      Helpful snake

Would you folks mind taking a stab at the following dream I had a couple of weeks ago? I think it may be trying to tell me something about my health. Thanks in advance!!

In this segment of the dream, I've just managed to pry a bat off my LEFT shoulderblade. (Note: I have chronic pain in my RIGHT shoulderblade and last night, for the first time, I tried an Icy Hot patch on the area. It seemed to be making my bed cold and wet whenever I woke up during the night, so I was worried about it.) I've also seen a mini-bat, a sort of cross between a black bat and a dragonfly, slip under the door to try to get to me. Then I feel sharp pains in my left shoulder. (Note: The Icy Hot Patch is on my right. The left shoulder is my good one.) It feels like something is biting me. When I turn around, I see that there is a snake looking up at me from the floor. She's a pale-orangey kind of colour, the colour of a cake baked with orange zest. (Note: I'd baked madeleines the other day and part of the recipe called for orange zest, and I'd been unsure whether that meant all of the orange peel or just the inner flesh under the peel, so that had worried me.) The snake is looking intently at me as if she's on a mission. I try to shoo her away. I try to run away. She keeps getting to me and rhythmically striking at me - in the same spot. She finally says to me, "Look, I'm trying to help you. I need to give you the scars for the electrolysis." I think about it for a moment, but I don't know what she means. I'm not even planning to get electrolysis done. So I continue to run away. She always catches up with me. When I get out of the house - which looks a lot like my grandmother's house from when I was a kid - I'm finally rid of her. I go around to the back to get into the kitchen, which I do from an upper window. The people in the cast of my film are there, cooking on the stove, and Aunt Janet from the Road to Avonlea series is there baking. Aunt Janet starts to scream bloody murder when she sees me come in. The ceiling corners above me are dirty and covered with strands of cobwebs.

I wake up and notice there IS actual physical pain in my left shoulder! I'm speculating that the relief on my right shoulder may have highlighted some pain in my left that I didn't know I had. It's milder than the usual pain in my right shoulder, but I can definitely feel it and it feels a lot more intense now.

I'm not a filmmaker in real life, but I'm studying it and I hope to be a director/writer one day.

I'd thought about electrolysis a couple days earlier. I've been thinking about getting Botox for my forehead again. I've thought of perhaps seeing if I can get Botox injections for my back pain, and I think I may have had a passing thought about that.

Because you do have chronic pain in your right shoulder blade, the scene could be making a comment upon the issue of this pain as well as be referring to the treatment you are using or thinking of using.

The bat often represents an idea, or a feeling of being, batty, i.e. not thinking quite rationally, a bit crazy. The scene shows that in your mind, a feeling of thinking not quite rationally is a wrong feeling for you to have (bat on left shoulder) where it pertains to a shoulder issue. The shoulder area itself represents the subject area of responsibilities and duties which one has to bear or put up with. You have seemingly managed to disconnect yourself from this feeling. (just managed to pry a bat off my LEFT shoulderblade) [As your pain is on the right shoulderblade, you would probably not associate the pain with any irrational feeling.]

A very unnatural feeling (the bat-dragonfly)is trying to get to you or have an impact upon you which seems to result in emotional pain (pain on the body). Again, wrong thinking has provided a place for this pain on the body to exist. (Then I feel sharp pains in my left shoulder) Describing the unnatural feeling - one God did not design – as a cross between a (mini)bat and dragonfly suggests that some battiness has been greatly minimized where some annoyance or irritation has acquired some emotional power. [When thoughts and feelings respond incorrectly to a situation – according to the Lord’s thinking - physical pain on the body will occur as an indication of error.] The bat-dragonfly slipping in under the door would emphasize the idea that no rational feeling (represented by a human form) could use the available opening to get to you or to affect you as did this unnatural gut feeling. [You may need to go back in time to before the pain began and reflect upon what responsibility or duty might have caused you some annoyance and rethink your reaction to the situation.

The snake represents another emotional aspect of yourself which is usually associated with feelings pertaining to sexuality – but it can also represent feelings reflecting lowly wisdom that has no principle to stand upon. (Note snakes have no legs.) This can refer to occult knowledge but could in this case refer to medical knowledge which is not God’s (by association with the doctor’s symbol – the caduceus). Here such feelings are not working for you. (snake bites you) The orangey colour implies that this wisdom reflects feelings that come as a result of instinctive feelings having been enlightened (red + yellow = orange) but actually ‘pales’ in comparison with real enlightenment. Your comparison with the colour of a cake baked recently can suggest that this wisdom be seen in terms of ‘just desserts’, that is, where little real wisdom is applied, there might be consequences. You need to get away from this wisdom. (I try to run away) The wisdom conveyed by your feelings shows signs of being rational (snake speaks to you) and function with the intent to be helpful, but they are repeatedly hurting you (rhythmically striking at me) and simply preparing you for more (shocking)treatments. In other words, this wisdom is not curing you. You are having difficulty getting away from this form of wisdom. (snake always catches up)

Only by getting away from a mental attitude governed by what you would see as a great or grand belief system can you get away from the form of wisdom that is actually hurting you. (come out of grandmother’s house – finally rid of snake) Entering the house by the back implies not using the best way to get into a point of view in which plans can be made to give you satisfaction in future (to get into the kitchen). While you may see yourself getting to this point of view by using a higher level of intelligence, this approach is one for the birds, that is, a bit ridiculous. (from an upper window)The higher principle pertaining to the point of view you would use (the kitchen ceiling)shows evidence of much incorrectness and illusions. (dirty and covered with strands of cobwebs.)There is seemingly an aspect of yourself that you could only imagine yourself having (aunt Janet) that would scream with objection to your thought of finding satisfaction in future within an old belief system. (scream bloody murder when she sees me come in) [It may be time to look beyond the usual physical(medical)treatments and consider a psychological one.]

PS. Orange zest refers to just the outer orange part of the rind. The white below can be bitter.
