I had a dream. A pretty awful dream--it got to me. I wasn't the same for a couple of days after. I don't want to be overly dramatic with it, so I'll just post the dream and afterwards provide a little detail about my life during the time it happened. I'm sorry if this is a little lengthy but I really would like some answers from anyone willing to help.

It started with me getting out of bed. Got up and stopped in the doorway because I saw something peculiar on my windowsill. Took another look to find it was a dark-ish red color. Not knowing what it was (and frankly not caring too much) I turned back to continue my business and stepped into my living room. This is when I saw him sitting there in my kitchen in one of my table chairs. He was a dark red color too... And he just stared at me. He mimicked my movements for a few short moments, then grinned at me. It was the scariest grin I'd ever seen in my life. He had short, sharp teeth poking out from his top lip. I remember saying something to the effect of "It's mine and I don't want you here." He started to slowly dissipate. I felt in control of the situation; but that was cut short. Remembering what I had seen earlier, I felt compelled to take another look onto my bedroom windowsill, and so I did but it seemed as though it had disappeared. I turned back around, and right in the doorway again he sat... Just staring. He had that grin on his face again, so I did what worked previously. "This is mine and I don't want you here." But he just sat, staring. He began to speak, but his mouth didn't move. He said to me "Turn around, I have something for you." I refused, as anyone would in this situation, but as if by some kind of forceful gesturing my body was slowly turning against my will. As soon as he got out of sight I woke up. I didn't see what was behind me and I didn't really care.

During the time this had happened I believe I was 19 years old. I had been living in my new apartment by myself for a couple of months at that point. I had always heard pretty weird noises in the ceiling at night like something was crawling around. It was particularly creepy since the ceiling wasn't so much hardwood as it was very soft paneling with insulation on the inside, but I had never really paid much mind to the noises and eventually felt accustomed to it. I had been in a relationship at that point (still am with the same person) for about a year, I'm not sure if that helps or not. Believe it or not, during the dream itself I didn't really feel as much scared as I did strong. I felt like I had control of the situation and forced whatever this was out of my apartment but as soon as it came back I realized I had LOST that control and my body absolutely locked up. I could not look away, I could not close my eyes and I could not wake up. Usually when I had a nightmare like this I could wake myself up by closing my eyes really tight. It was a pretty scary way to wake up because I felt like every time I did it, the things in my dreams realized I was trying to wake myself up. Always when I had my eyes shut tight I would hear very loud footsteps-running towards me. Things would start to shake and before whatever it was got to me I would wake up. This was not the case this time. I could not wake up until this thing got out of my sight.

I'm not sure what else I could add... so if anyone needs any additional information just let me know.
