Post i found a place that felt real and need your help

Hi guys, im new here and literally made this account because i wanted your opinion on what ive recently experienced.

Background info - 18, australian, working, relatively happy and with a big family , saving for a trip to japan, recently started living with my best mate, can lucid dream via WILD but only have been successful around 8-10 times in 6 years.

To comprehend this dream i need you to understanad what me and my friend call ' unintentional dream control ', its something everyone has experienced once or twice and often gets missinterpreted as lucid dreaming. This is the process of your dream self tricking your mind into thinking its in control of the dream, giving the illusion it is. the way this happens for most people is the traditional ' i was in a dream and said some spells and fire really came from my body!! ' - while you are in some way controlling your dream, it is by no means lucid.

Alright, so the actual dream starts here :

This dream occured while i was sleeping on the couch, at about 5 am. the concept behind it was that i was in a game editor with my best mate ( whos house i was sleeping at, we also game dev so this wasnt a surprise ). by being in a ' map editor ', i was effectively in control of the dream ( thats the unintentional dream control i mentioned ). so basically, i created a sky scraper that was underground, with the general rule that the higher up you were, the more civilised it was. The top level was at ground level and had supermarkets, apartments, etc. one thing i took note of here : the people inhabiting these spacecs seemed lifeless, like npcs in a game would.

moving down, we got to police floors deep underground, and at one point skimmed past a prison( take note this was happening as i was giving my friend a ' tour ' of the ' bunker - skycraper ' ). so this is where it gets really, really strange. we reach the bottom floor. my friend looks at me and says ' i dont really feel that safe here ', and looking around i saw why. the meat store was a huge giant of a guy chopping up human body parts, there were people with knives walking around etc. thats when my friend saw a golden door at the end of the room. he asked ' what is behind that '

without meaning it, my dream self stated ' that, i have no idea.. that was there before i arrived here, its always been here, its important. ', so naturally we open it. this is the part i need help interpreting. behind this door was a huge caveren filled with light blue air. we walked into an active hub of community, a city that looked like a modern city melded with something from bioshock. the part that gets me, still, is this : The people in that space, the ' extra ' level to the game, felt genuinely real. My dream self knew my friend wasnt my real friend, but he stated ' Listen, the people here... they are real, they are real just like me, more real than you. ' - its something that was felt, in the same way you intrinsically know a nightmare is a nightmare, my body knew that the people in that space were actual, real people.

i woke up just as i went to talk to one , who was carrying her shopping to her car. i do note that the people of this section seemed genuinely human, in a way that ive never felt dreaming before, while in the actual ' game level ' they felt like npcs. i also get the weird vibe that maybe, ill be seeing that city in the caveren again, it felt alive and happy, and real.. anyway

any interpretations would be appreciated, has anyone ever felt like people/multiple people in their dreams were actual living people?

It is my own interpretation that people in dreams are thoughts. Getting a thought is like meeting a person. Thoughts can also have sentiments and personality.

I would thus interpret the top level of that building, the one on ground floor, the visible one, to be the people/thoughts/sentiments that you see in your every day life. Normally, people are not genuine, not even knowing much about themselves or of life. Likewise they do not follow their true desires but live a false life under the rules of others.

Going deeper down in the human psyche we apparently find a level of policing (perhaps the conscious, analyzing mind), and even further down a prison level (perhaps the sub conscious mind, where thoughts are kept tucked away).

Even further down we come to the meat shop. An interesting level indeed. In a sense it could be saying, that "no flesh shall enter" through the golden door. Thus, this is a realm of spirit. Also, the city in the latest Bioshock is a very religious city, i.e. spiritual.

That's about as much as I can make of it. However, this reminds me of a dream I had which I also wrote about but didn't get much replies about. It was a dream about a man and a woman living in a house that was actually located inside a bridge similar to the Golden Gate bridge in design, but grey in colour (an impossible fit, but very symbolic). The man was playing a piano inside the house, being very careful to get the notes right, but his wife was bonded in a rope that was hanging down the ceiling. A storm raging outside the bridge made the bridge sway heavily and this made the nail that was holding the rope to lose grip and the woman would fall down. As she fell down, there were human body parts on the floor that she took and ate like you would eat a chicken leg. The man would in a zealous manner hoist her up again. This continued repeatedly until I had enough of it and exited the dream by turning away from the movie I thought I was watching. I was also shown there to be other people, mostly if not only female, living under the bridge/outside of the house.

If anyone could interpret why the woman was eating body parts, that would be great.

that sound absolutely intense mate, im horrid at dream intrepretation but to me it seems the woman could represent one of two things. If the woman was a reflection of you, it could mean youve gone through something that either physically damaged you or made you feel physical pain? if it represents someone you cared about, perhaps it means you recognise the fact that the person hurt you in some way.

going further down, perhaps the woman represents a bad habit you have that is ' eating away at who you are '.. but im not sure.

The best that I can make out of it is that the man and the woman are the male and female aspects of myself or the ying/yang stuff. Thus the male aspect is obviously dominating, however he's only doing the best he can according to his knowledge of things. She wasn't really bothered by being tied up like that, but if you think about it, her only means of survival were those cut off limbs from other people, which she only got when the storm made her fall down to the floor. The dream actually began with the man being submerged in the water, with the stuff from his house being in it as well. While still under water he got hold of a bag with blood in it, he put it to his chest and was very sad about having lost something, supposodely his wife. Then the dream changed to the situation beforehand, which is what I explained earlier.

So I'm not sure if the limbs are a good or a bad thing. Maybe they have similar meaning to those in your dream.

One definition of severed limbs that I've come across is "severed relationships". Perhaps the dream is telling you that to get to the real people, you have to severe your ties with false people? Maybe you are too involved in the fruitless activities of the "NPC's"?

Likewise the severed limbs in my dream could refer to the severed relationship that I have with my own subconscious. Perhaps her eating the limb means that the relationship will be restored? I'm not sure. Or has the potential to.

The blacked haired woman was rather lying in the white rope as if it was a suspended netted easy chair (but maybe not the most comfortable position). The waves made the rope lose grip, and would fall down together with her to the floor, where she could grab hold of her food. Which happens to be the limbs of members from her own specie.

There is another specie that eats it's own specie. Spiders. Perhaps the man was wise in keeping her there.

What if, the man in my dream had bought the severed limbs from the store in your dream?

What do men give women as an excuse to not eat them up?

The tied up woman could mean the constraints I have put on my imagination. Therefore, the body parts could be meant as the food for the imagination. Still not sure what that means tho.

I had a police car run by in a dream recently. It could just mean the anxiety I get when I see the police, as it kind of does run through the body, but I've also likened it to the intuitive "force" i.e. "police force", that one has that reacts to one's thoughts. If they are invalid thoughts, the "force" reacts negatively, and vice versa. So the police car that ran by me in my dream might have been chasing an invalid thought somewhere.

So maybe the level with the police in your dream signifies that part of oneself that reacts to the thoughts one is having. So then accordingly the prison are the "illegal" or invalid thoughts that have been exposed/arrested/acknowledged as illegal/invalid, and going further down that line one could assume that those being butchered are the illegal, invalid thoughts. Thus, the dream could be talking about a transformation where the thoughts, or the mind, is transformed in some way.

edit: Actually, the timing of the police car coincided with me having a thought about that the passengers on a cruiser ship I was seeing were the refugees (I live in Sweden so that's a big thing here). Immediately after having that thought the police car ran by on the otherwise closed off road I was walking. I later saw that those on board the ship were some kind of rescue personell, prepared for duty.

I can sort of relate to the part where the people seemed real. I had a dream once where I was chatting to my dad who had then recently passed. He seemed very vivid and very real like he had a will of his own and I feel pretty certain this was a visitation dream. I even asked him, how can I be sure you are real and not just a part of my dream? So the fact that I even asked this proves that my experience of him was different to how I normally perceive dream characters. Long story short he gave me enough proof that I am convinced his spirit was really there in my dream.
