The Play of Light and Shadow (Lucid's Journal)

Ok, hello all. I decided to start my dream journal here after a bit of procrastination. Right now I have it without replies and you guys can PM me with thoughts. I might make it with replies in the future.

In a little I will post some dreams. I have to decide upon a standard format.

      First LD

      Date of Dream:Dec 8th '04
      LD:yes
      Induction Techniques:WILD, MILD

      Dream:

I found myself in the art room at my school dipping a paintbrush into one of the many yogurt cups that we use to hold paint water. As I dipped my brush in I saw my hand holding the brush and noticed that it didn't have any scar on the back of it. This was one of the reality tests suggested in the tutorial (looking at your hands) and I realized I was dreaming. I got realy excited and started to feel the world slip away, so I took several deep breaths and concentrated on relaxing. I then noticed the painting that I was painting. It was a strange modern art painting that I didn't really like. This was when I attempted dream control. I just looked at the painting that I didn't like and I thought of one that I did, and the painting shifted before my eyes into one of Degas' dancers.
Someone in the art room said that it was cool how I did that, his name is Nick but I hardly know him. I then looked at everyone else in the room who didn't notice and with one wave of my hand I said "away" and they all sort of shimmered and dissapeared. I thought about a set of stairs decending down through the floor of the room. I then went down the stairs to a dirt road in the middle of a grassy field. Then the stairs just liffted up into the sky and I turned around and this kid Nick was standing behind me.
I then walked down the path and ended up in this darkness that I then sort of coaleced into this ornate victorian room and I was sitting on this large set of marble stairs. It was pretty cool to have so much control over my suroundings.

      Notes:

This was my first night of LDing I had found a link to a guide to LDing from a metafilter post on "mind hacks" a new book from O'riley publishers. The guide got me interested and it was already about bed time. So I went and set my alarm clock for 6 hours later. I woke up then and went and got a drink and returned to bed about 20 min later. I already knew what the guide was talking about a little with the wake induced technique because I have many times focused my mind and not moved as a methode to get to sleep when I can't. I was already familiar with the sleep phases all the way through paralysis because of this, but didn't know it was possible to go straight into your dreams.
All in all I think it was a good first night.

Zooming Along in a Bath Tub

      Date: Dec 9, '04
      LD: Yes
      Induction Techniques: WBTB, MILD

      Dream:

I don't know how I became lucid as I found myself biking along a bike path that I had just taken a 20 mile ride down a couple of days before. As I realized I was dreaming I tried to do a dream spin (don't ask me how I did this on a bike, but I did). This was my first atempt at dream spinning and I didn't really know what to expect. I found my self in the exact same surroundings, its just that instead of riding my bicycle, I was riding in a bath tub. I was also going extreamly fast.
A few seconds after this I woke up for some reason I can't remember. Oh well.

      Notes:

I was a little lazy with the induction techniques this time wich probobly explains why it was both short and relatively vague. I woke up about 6 hours after falling a sleep. The funny thing is I woke up about 5 min before the alarm even went off. I was a little lazy on the WBTB technique because I was pretty tired and I don't think that I got fully awake. I went back to bed within 10 min and then I remeber this. I was also pretty lazy on the recording the dream end of things.

      King Arthur Quest

      Date: Dec 10, '04
      LD: Yes
      Induction Techniques: WILD, MILD

      Dream:

I intended to start my dream as a king on a castle wall looking out over the parapets. I forget how my dream actualy started but I spun and got the dream I intended. I touched the stone on the wall and I distinctly remember it being rough and cold, slightly wet with dew. As I looked over the walls I could see the mote a far ways down and I felt like jumping to see what it would be like, but I stopped my self because I didn't want to end my dream so soon and I thought that if I jumped than it would end. The funny thing was that I could not see the horizon for some reason when I looked up but I could see the mote when I looked down. I had intended to be looking at a beautiful sunrise when I spun. Oh well. Any ways, I went down the stepps on the wall into a bustling village setting. The wierd thing was that I distictly remember a "bustling" or busy sensation about the village, but I dont remember seeing any people exept one. So I found this guy. I asked him:

      "whats your name"
      "percival"
"are you a knight" (as in sir Percival in the aurthur legends)
"no" (he gives me a quizicle look like I'm strange for thinking this dude in peasents cloths is a knight)

I then thought it would be cool to go on a journey, so I commanded the guy to get my horse, and he brings this sweet big white charger. so I ride off into the woods on this horse, and I tell myself, "I'm on a quest to find "the mystic pool"." so I ride for a while and eventualy find this small clearing with this stone well that is filled to the brim with this blue water. I walk up to it and I see my reflection with crown and full beard in all.

suddenly, the pool, or mabee my reflection (I cant quite remember wich) says to me

'The land and the king are one. in this realm, you and the world are one."

It was pretty sweet. I had just watched the movie Excalibur where one of the main lines and concepts is "The land and the king are one" it was sweet how this came up in a lucid dream, and how it tied into the whole idea of the world being just a manifestation of my mind. I thought that was a pretty cool thing to just be said out of the blue.

the suck part is that my waking body suddenly got a really itchy nose I felt like I really wanted to stay in the dream but I was ripped away as I scratched my nose.

      Notes:

This is my best LD yet (out of three) I was pretty serious about the WILD this time and really stuck with it. I don't remember entering the paralysis stage, and I think as a result, I could feel my waking body as the dream started. This was a bit a distraction and for the first bit the dream was really unstable. Once I walked down the stairs though it was pretty good.

      Sword of Inheritance

      Date: Dec 11, '04
      LD: No
      Induction Techniques: MILD

      Dream:

I found myself in a long halway made of yellow sandstone, the hall was about 15' across and several hundred feet long. It was in some sort of palace. Along the sides of the hall at regular intervals were small recesed niche's. In the middle of the Hall was a raised walkway that was about 3' wide and 5' high. it was made of stone like the rest of the Hall way and had tapered sides going down to the ground. This walk way, I remember was specificly for the king to walk on so that he was elevated over everyone else.

As I stood there (in the hall, to the side of the raised part) The king is striding down the raised path. He is in huge belowing purple robes and he has a large gold crown on his head. He says:

"I am the King of macedonia! My son alexander is DEAD!"

At this everyone in the hall gasps (although I only remeber 2 DCs)

      "Who will inherit my kingdom!?"

At this a fairly atractive woman stepps out of one of the niches and she unsheiths this sword that is a distictly celtic style with glowing blue runes all along the blade (if you are interested it was an early LaTene single piece bronze tonge blade, I know because I do a lot of blacksmithing). she says:

"I have the sword of Inheritance!"

At this I step forward and unshieth an identical sword. I say:

      "know hers is false!"

I then charge forward and cut her blade in half with mine and sparks fly and everything. Then I proceed to cut off her arm and stab her several times in the chest making sure she is quite dead (sorry, this is one of my most violent and bloody dreams, just being honest) This is when I woke up.

      Notes:

This was my first night drinking some mint tea before going to bed. (found a really good mix by the way and I'm totaly addicted to it now). I think this is why I had such an awsome vivid dream. It could also be because I saw Vanilla skies that night and that had me realy thinking about wierd vivid dreams. on the car ride home from my friends house where I saw the movie I was giving another freind a ride and we were talking about the movie Alexander (which neither of us have seen) because he is named alex. I think this is what got me started thinking about alexander and what not. Because I watched the movie I didn't get to sleep untill around 1:30 AM and I didn't really feel like trying to WILD. That is probobly be why I didn't LD. But still it was a cool dream.

      Lots o' Money

      Date: Dec 12, '04
      LD: No
      Induction Techniques: None

      Dream:

I found my self at a seven-eleven counter buying a coffee (which I never buy there) and a donut. I was thumbing through my wallet to see whether I had enough cash or whether I would have to use my Debet card. as I thumbed through, I kept finding more cash. I then was some how in my bed room spredding all the new crisp one hundred dollar bills out on my pillow. I worked in a bank over the summer so I can judge pretty well how much a pile of money is by the denomination and size of the stack and I had at least 20k spread out on my pillow in new, stiff 100's like they were just fresh from the fed.

      Notes:

I didn't try any induction techniques. I guess I was just lazy. The dream was pretty vauge and short. no more than 30 seconds passed
