      Losing Confidence

well, i ve just hit my 300th day of dreamjournaling and while i guess i have come sort of far with my recall, it is still horrible.i dont know whta ive been doing wrong and im starting to feel like ive wasted my time. to be fair, i was focused on exams for a little while but thats well over and it still isnt any good. im starting to just lose confidence in my abilities. is ther anything that could help me?

What you're doing wrong is you're being too pessimistic.

Paying attention to the lack of awareness of your dreams takes away attention that could be put towards being more aware of them. The same applies to remembering your dream awareness.

Along with dolphins post, if Lucid dreaming practice seems to be taking a toll on you or it's becoming frustrating, I would recommend a short break (1 or 2 days). I usually do this when I get frustrated or stress about lucid dreaming, and it often leaves me refreshed.

Hard to say what you might do to improve without knowing more about what your doing

are you practicing WBTB (maybe by drinking lots of water at night so you wake right after each dream)

are you getting to sleep early and sleeping at least 7.5 total hours per day? etc

If not do some of these things.
if you just go to bed at random times, and wake up to alarm or at random from sleeping in and then journal you won't get much progress

also if Dream Recall is your goal what is your Mantra:
      "Dreams are important to me"
      "I will remember my dreams"
"I will wake after my dreams"
      "I will recall my dreams"
all might be much better than for instance

"come on LD, three-hundredth time is the charm"

Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

i do usually have some random awakenings during the night, and i go to bed at 3am and wake up at 1 since its the holidays now. i usually just say something like i will remember my dream and try to get into the sort of feeling and concentrate on remembering my dream before i sleep. thats pretty much it.

Well if you sleep 10 hrs per day and have several awakenings that should be good for recall, usually it is easier to recall dreams near normal wake up time.

but since you sleep till like 1pm is it noisy and distracting when you wake up? maybe if so you could use some kind of white noise while your sleeping. You want to be able to focus on recall when you wake up not house noise.
Be sure not to think about life, and to lie still and to ask where you where, what you were doing or go thru lists of things you dream about if you don't recall anything. Like School, Library, Mall, ... Something should get you at least a flash of the dream then build forwards and backwards.

Sounds like your Mantra should be good, since you want to focus on recall.
Sure LUCID DREAMS are all fun and games until someone loses a third eye.

You could try writing this down 20+ times before bed: "Tonight I am going to have a lucid dream!"
And reeeeeally feel the positivity and that it is a certainty as you write it. Let the feeling of it happening grow in you as you continue to write it, and visualize and feel yourself becoming lucid in a dream.
      That's a very powerful tool!

you could try being more thorough with your journaling. Smallest details. Windows closed or open? What color are the walls? What was the DC wearing? How long is the grass? What were some of the objects you saw around you/what you were focusing on? I assume with 300 days of dream journaling you're already very thorough, but maybe it's been dying down because DJing is a chore? That would be most understandable. Just throwing this out there for what it's worth. I don't know how you DJ so i can't really judge it.
