^^ I've noticed that my dreamsigns sort of rotate in and out over time.

I too used to ALWAYS see stairs: usually descending stairs that run around the perimeter of a square or rectangular indoor space.

It may be strange, but the most common thing is my brother. In life I see him rarely (1-2 times per year), but in dreams he appears almost every night in different situations and places.

I get this too, really frustrating..

I think my dreamsign are friends and old friends, started journalling today and discovered that (old) friends of mine played a role in 4/5 dreams that night. When I discovered this, I thought of older dreams and most of the time they appear there too. Need to look out for them .

I haven't had an LD but I recall points that are in most of my dreams
A book filled with scribbles that shift
A shadowy figure that always stands next to me/holds my hand
      A white tiger

The ability to transfer my soul to the closest living body upon my own death or just being in a strangers body from the start, albino animals (they are always so stuck on consuming things like people and the world :/ ), shopping centers or complexes, weird variations in the land that are obvious like having a video game layout, chasing or being chased, dream guide dude that I've never met in real life at all, still somehow helps in dream quests ( he has a persistence in wearing other peoples skins as well but always has black on him somewhere or around him is all so terrible at keeping the skin disguises up )

In almost every dream I have, a female family member of mine is also in it.

Fighting, sex/hot girls. That's all I've got, but often it's just a feeling. Somehow a switch flips and I just know I'm dreaming..

I just get the feeling too now. Like a switch and I just know. In the beginning when it first started I used other techniques.

      A. Light switch not working or inability to change the light
      B. Trying to read something and reading gibberish

These are things that I am STILL unable to do while dreaming. The light switch worked well in the beginning but the reading I think I used more often. I mean when you think of real life situations there's always signs somewhere. But there was just that moment of "I should be able to do that." Switch the light off, or read something. And the second I had those thoughts BOOM! I was lucid.

I put mine up earlier, classical ones with some personal things, but now I have something quite bizarre, since some months it keeps returning, but I never incubated it or made use of it: coloured pencils.

Don't ask me why, but they keep appearing, last time I found a nice expensive looking red one on the ground, picked it up and pocketed it, to hear from a friend: "You're unable to keep your fingers off any trash you find, aren't you?"
Another time, there were multiple ones held to the wall by some appliance or other, and one could draw connections between people with them in the air, and the people, including myself then danced together as one body.
And I've got two more less interesting appearances journalled down and at least a couple un-journalled ones as well. Weird.

Dream signs that never failed me:

-If I'm in a video game setting, 90% of the time I know that I'm dreaming.
-Sometimes, if I'm in an impossible situation given the events of the day, that would induce lucidity. Just last night, I went lucid when I was walking in a desert because I'm in London and live nowhere near a desert.

This implies that you have good access to memory when dreaming, good for you! Dream signs can only work if you *remember* that you don't live near a desert, or that it's impossible to be in a video game setting in waking life.

Also, if you've build up a lot of associations with these signs that "<sign> = dream" (a MILD-like approach). In either case it indicate a PM that functions well in dreams.

      Thank you

Dream signs only work if I remember in the dream that, for example, Haven City from Jak and Daxter is fictional. And surprisingly, when I explored the place, most of the layout was from the video games themselves but when I wanted to explore a would-be ruined sector of the city, the entrance was replaced with some sewer entrance instead. Strange as I know the fictional city layout like the back of my hand.

Also, if you've build up a lot of associations with these signs that "<sign> = dream" (a MILD-like approach). In either case it indicate a PM that functions well in dreams.
Video games dream signs induce lucidity far more reliably for me because I do sometimes go in and out of video games and do reality checks. But my dream girlfriend is another matter. And what's PM?

PM is Prospective Memory, the memory where you remember to do something in the future (as opposed to retrospective memory, where you remember something that happened in the past), like buy lemons at the grocery store (or, remember that living out a video game means you're dreaming). LaBerge frames training to get lucid in dreams as the task of training yourself to *remember* to recognize that you're dreaming, and suggests exercises during the day to enhance PM skills. It's very effective.

Mine is looking do i reconize my surrounding. I find myself very often in a dream wondering where the hell i am and i usually become lucid this way but its easy for me since in reality every time when im in new neibourhood or envioroment i enjoy just looking around and mapping the area in my head. I also enjoy walks and i often just walk the route instead of taking buss and i just look around and enjoy the envioroment. It often feels dreamy in reality when im on unfamiliar place which make me question could i be dreaming.

This is an excellent approach, I also spend a fair bit of attention on location in waking like practice, but I almost never think about location in dream. What I do in dream is think about things a lot, objects, people, what I'm doing, and so on. My dream locations are either my childhood home, or a totally made up dream place. If I could get my dream attention to thinking about my location, I'd probably get lucid a lot more.

I also love walks and enjoy looking around. I'm also very alert for the dream state in unfamiliar locations.

      My current ones are:
      1. My boyfriend. He's working abroad, but I dream of him a lot.
      2. Airports or anything related to them, as a consequence of my trips to see him.
      3. Classmates and laboratories.
      4. Not being able to run (this one is quite old).
      5. Darkness.

Apart from the last two, my dream signs vary a lot depending on my circumstances, but I guess this happens to everyone.

If I have been driving, then things like multiple collisions or brakes are out
If I have been riding bus or train, then waiting for bus/train, missing bus/train, getting off at wrong stop
      Hoodlems
Too many people around, or people who don't fit in
Insects (once I went to an insect store, they had them in little pull out boxes like nuts and bolts at an ACE hardware store, there were thousands and thousands of different kinds, I was shopping for some praying mantis) (once in a dream I saw a bug with legs, hands, angels wings and a Picachu head, I was screaming to a relative get over here quick its a once in a life time thing)
ridiculous bathrooms, I once dreamed of a bathroom with like 1000 showers some had ladders you could climb up to other ones and then there were more on that level, I once dreamed of a co-ed bathroom with an entire beauty-salon in side it, others have never ending twisting hallways.

I have so many that are only true in a dream and not real life: The age that certain people are (younger), people being there who wouldn't be there or couldn't be there in real life, old furniture arrangement that comes up many times, old furnishings, tsunamis happening where they shouldn't, seeing myself (usually my little girl self running around or talking to me)...the list goes on! It's interesting to see what other people have as signs.

Oh, I often have one that I'm back in elementary school (I just graduated from college!) because I didn't finish a grade. And usually I'm getting up to go on the bus with my brother, it's winter, and I'm thinking, "I wish I took my car so I could leave" or I'm driving my car there even though I'm sort of the age I was back then, but it's sort of in the present, it's weird.

Being psychic: They say dreaming is about expectations, but I'd have NO REASON to expect it, like horror movie trope car not starting up. I'd never expect that, but my expectations are controlled by the dream.
