Another great anime I just watched was Senyu (aka Senyuu.) Each episode is only 5 or so minutes but its the funniest anime I've ever watched.
      Maeni and Astaroth like this.

Amg Sword Art Online season 2 surpassed all my hopes: it's even better than the Aincrad universe in some ways, and the combo kirito/sinon is just great. Oh, and if you thought guns would make it boring (like I did), think again!

Well, my favorite would probably have to be Soul Eater.. but Pandora Hearts is also pretty good. And just yesterday, started watching Bakuman (I've been into art recently for some reason, and this anime is about drawing manga), and loving it so far!

Oh I love anime I should really start reading manga's as well soon.
My personal favorites may be a little cheesy, but I love them anyway!

Clannad: The second season (after story) is where it starts to get really interesting. I completely love the heck outta that one and even shed a little tear. And that is very rare for me, hehe.

Stein's Gate: I absolutely loved this one. For long Clannad was my favorite by a mile and a half, but this one really got under my skin. I'm really not sure which one I love more.

Naruto: Perhaps for the sole reason that it was my first anime and I have been following it for years now. It is the only really long anime I can keep following and still enjoy. After all these episodes I am still curious what will happen next. To me that is worth a spot in my favorites. (I got tired of bleach, one piece and dragonball z after a couple hundred episodes)

Beck/Nana: I just felt like I had to place a less popular one here too. In the end I put 2 similar ones. Both resolve around a band. Both are worth watching if you like music a lot.

That is all I have for my list of favorites. Though I still have a lot of other anime's that I want to mention here. I don't want to make this any longer than it already is
      Lucid Dream Goal:
      A perfect week!

One week with at least 1 Lucid Dream in every night.

Zoth, I had low expectations for SAO II (because of the second half of the first SAO season, and because I expected the guns to be boring as well) but I have been delighted by it so far. I wish Kirito could keep his hands off of Sinon, though. Anyway, I am eagerly anticipating each upcoming episode!

Cubellius, Bakuman is wonderful. I pulled the manga off a shelf in a book store and was quickly engrossed. I never finished the manga, but I've seen all three anime seasons now. The concept seems boring enough, but the show is actually quite full of energy.

Ditto. It's not the most clever or well-paced, but I love the Naruto anime (and manga). The world and the characters really stand out to me. That is actually how it got to be the first anime I had ever seen.

Zoth. I need to watch that second season, I keep forgetting about it.

Cubellis. Soul eater is great, but the Anime end too soon. The manga is crazy and actually complete. it is awesome.

      MrPriority. Cried a little?

One of my favorite Anime. I cry more each time I watch that. I love all those characters so much. Have you checked out Air or Kanon? Those three usually go together. Air is the one I watched first, thanks to an AMV.

Yeah, and while I think many people hype Naruto up too much I also enjoy watching it to this day. The character development of Naruto, from an annoying stupid brat (well, with reasons) to someone with great responsibility and a will and possibility to see to it, is something I have yet to see in any other anime or manga. That's just something the typical 25 episodes anime will never be able to deliver.

As much as I was addicted to Death Note, I am shocked when I read things like this:

To each their own of course, but Light Yagami is one of my most despised characters of all time. As the series progressed I found myself unable to get through an episode without yelling angry obscenities at him through the screen.

I watched it in a bubble...rapidly, and alone with no one to talk to about it. Once I finished, I started reading reactions to online...and I simply could not believe how many Light fans existed out there.

I understood that an ethical slippery slope was a main element of the story, and knew in a way I was supposed to feel compassionate towards this guy...but I just couldn't. The more he unraveled, the more I hated him...which in a way felt unsatisfying. I wanted some reason, some event wherein he could redeem himself, even just a little. I wanted to not hate him but he just made it too easy. And just when I thought I couldn't hate him more, he proved me wrong.

But overall I loved the series because I had such a strong reaction to it. It made me laugh, cry, pull my hair out, the whole nine. To me the story is like Reservoir Dogs...it's a train wreck you can't help but be mesmerized by. A cautionary tale more than anything.

It made me wary though, because it's just another example of how the characters I enjoy the most seem to be a magnet for unfortunate events.

Indeed, I didn't like the whole punch thing - but I'm waiting to at least somewhat forget the plot before I read the manga, more fun that way.

      This one, by any chance?

It's got a clip from Air I think.

Ah, the manga actually goes quite far past, so the plot becomes a real plot! No need to wait.

It wasnt that video, but yeah, misuzu is in that in a few clips. It was a Jars of Clay song I know. I'll see if I can find it when I get home. Mobile version will never be able to get a five year old AMV. Probably just gonna pull up a thousand covers.

      OP and acetaliphobic.
I agree with OP. If you weren't sure about Light's method, it is a classic "ends justify the means", and just giving someone the means. By the end of it, a lot of people loved light because the world got better. I think that the whole plot went downhill when... Don't want to post spoilers, and if I put a spoiler wrap,.people will read it anyways. but you know when.

It reminds me of Ender's Game at the end where the commander tells him that it doesn't matter because they won, and Ender says "how we win is important too!" Such emotion. Loved that movie/book. If you know Christianity, it seems like at some points the ends justify the means, but we do not preach that. Even though we preach that God let his Son come down and be sacrificed on a cross for all humanity. Not trying to spark a debate, but it is interesting and worth pondering for a Christian I think.

@Sensei Hhmm, I may or may not have acted a little tough when I said "cried a little". It may or may not have been slightly more than that. And yeah I've seen both air and Kanon. I liked Air, but oddly did not like Kanon that much at all.. Neither of them are a match for Clannad After Story imho. I guess it's tough to beat that one though

I've started watching SAO last night. I wanted to watch that for a while now, but I never got to it. It did not seem that good to me at first, but DAMN! I am totally hooked from episode 1! I have been binge watching today, total caveman mode!

Ok ok! You got me! I cried a bunch. Then I watched it again and cried even more!

My television finally went kaput, so to relieve boredom I started watching an anime online that I have had interest in for a while.

      .hack//sign

I'm already 16 episodes in, so I'm glad there are others to watch because so far this one has really breezed by.

Soul Eater: The first anime that I ever watched, so very close to my heart. And I haven't seen anything quite like it since. By the way, there is a spin off series called that I advise you stay away from: "Soul Eater NOT". Probably short for "Soul Eater NOT NEARLY AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL" because it's dreadfully boring and had every last drop of the original's charm taken out of it.

      Attack On Titan:
I have only seen a few episodes and It's good. It's certainly not the amazing holy grail of anime that some hail it to be, but it's good. (Then again, for every anime there are are worshipers who see it as the amazing holy grail...)

      Fullmetal Alchemist:
I have seen only a few episodes of this too but it's really good.

Apart from long running shounen and super popular stuff, some of my favorites would be:

Elfen Lied: First anime I ever watched >.< for some reason it stuck with me
Tokyo Ghoul: Really good, the manga is great. Highly recommend (I really like mystery/horror manga/anime.)
Akame Ga Kill: Love it! Funny sometimes and just awesome!

One Piece and Naruto also hold places in my heart, as I have been following them for so long.

Some of my favorites are not anything that has come out recently but they have stuck with me throughout the years, not everyone enjoys these series as I have read from both critics and anime watchers in general but If you haven't seen them you can give them a shot if you are bored and have watched all your current anime.

Lucky Star: Slice of life and ultimately pretty random anime about a few High School friends that range in personalities and sort stereotyped (which is why some people hate this anime) attributes of each female character. There are Otaku references and also references from older other anime one being Maria-sama Ga Miteru which means
The Virgin Mary is Watching or Maria Watches Over Us. I would not have found the reference entertaining if I had not myself known of the anime way before the release of Lucky Star which is now not current and all the references I heard of within Lucky Star dated back to my Junior High school years while Lucky star was released just before my last year in middle school so maybe that was why the anime stuck with me. I am from a completely different generation of western-anime lovers so I have personal preferences that have been around for quite some time. So if you are new to anime, then I wouldn't watch this one as they do make a lot of Otaku related references that one who isn't familiar with Japan pop-culture or anime in general might not get.

Eureka 7: I was reading over the web through blogs and forums that this Anime isn't what one might like if they aren't into mecha. I must conclude that it isn't just smuthered in Mecha battle scenes and then THATS IT. Yes, there is a lot of action involving mecha or robotic elements but there are a lot of under-lining details as to what is happening while the battle scenes are unfolding. There is a love story between multiple characters. Although there is a lot that I can add in specifically about this anime, I wouldn't want to ruin it for someone that hasn't seen it and wants to give it a go. All I have to say is there are a lot of emotional scenes that made me think about my life, my experience, and my relationships, so why I like this anime is actually really personal.

Those are some of my favorites with added perspective, but I'd like too add these others to the watch list as they are just as good as they above and maybe better, just remember; Part of my liking or anyone elses liking to anime is part personal preference but some of these are just damn good.

      Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

      Cowboy Bebob

      Angel Beats

      Azumanga Daioh

      Samurai Champloo

      Ouran Koukou Host Club

      and plenty more...

One of the first anime I watched as an anime, not just cause it was on the TV and yet the best one. Really deep and great for a long meditations about the meaning of all the symbols in there. (Talking about the original series, not the remake!)

      Cowboy Bebop
What should I say? This anime is a freaking LEGEND!

      Kara no Kyoukai
Very deep and dark anime with some really great thoughts and quotes. Plus the main female character s badass!

Well I finished FMA Brotherhood and I was not disappointed. I'm thinking about watching the 2003 version as well. I would totally recommend FMA to anyone looking for a good action/adventure anime.

I started watching Code Geass, which I thought was alright. (Not great, not terrible, I just liked the mech fights). Though the way it ended on a cliffhanger was not really to my liking because it kind of felt like they rushed. My friend S says that it continues, but I couldn't find the continuation anywhere.

I also started watching Gurren Laggan. Now this anime is pretty good, but you kind of have to watch it with part of your brain turned off if you want to enjoy it because it's kind of Ren and Stimpy if it was a mecha anime. I guess Kill la Kill who was done by the same people/studio is kind of the same way.

I love brotherhood. The original FMA was good, but that is because it was a shadow of the manga, while brotherhood was almost word for word the manga redone. I love it.

Gurren Laggan is pretty hilarious. I kind of felt like it was making fun of other mecha's while still keeping a story.

Like almost every kid, "Dragon Ball" and "Pokemon" was my shit but do you remember "Saint Seiya, Knights Of The Zodiac"? A beast of a show.

Hm, I watched Attack On Titan with my wife and actually we both found it pretty bad. Sure, the story is somewhat interesting and the action is nice, but I found the immersion broken countless times because one of the protagonists did something predictably stupid. And at least 3 times per episode thinking "Wow. That was like... ridiculously stupid." always pulled me back to reality.
We both thought that despite the theoretically serious threat of the titan's they never actually managed to be the main antagonist in the anime. The stupidity of almost all of the normal humans in the anime was the real antagonist and a much worse threat than the titans ever were, and that totally took the fun out of it for me. The protagonists were more busy passing the idiot ball to one another than they were with fighting the titans... I really don't understand the hype about this anime.

I concur, and I had A LOT more fun watching pretty much anything from Fate than AOT. I just recently finished the new version of Stay Night (Unlimited Blade Works) and I enjoyed it a lot.

I love Law of Ueki. This anime should've gained more popularity and attention from people. It's a unique anime in term of combat. I love it that it doesn't have inappropriate fanservice and ecchi moments. The pervert moments only happened about 1-3 times in overall 51 episodes and they aren't even arousing. Not everyone is into ecchi stuff and fanservices so this anime brings those people justice. Not to mention the amount of funny and sad moments are balanced which make LoU entertaining for me. The author of this anime is genius.
