I love listening to alternative music, and video game music! (I even have those on my iPod, but hey, music from video games are the best! Besides, it gets my imagination up and goin'.)
I recently seem to have taken a liking to Dan Bull's game raps and the Super Meat Boy Soundtrack.
Ofcourse game music is awesome too :D Like this one from FFIX

I have have played it probably over 100 times on my violin :D And I would play it even more if I had a guitar
I have a huge thing for progressively-tinged things.
Macklemore's pretty alt I guess.
In my small circle of real life friends none of them really listen to what I listen to. Even when I used to listen to rap, they were mostly underground artists who were just starting out. Now I listen to a lot of electronica. Psapp, Bitter:Sweet, Bird and the Bee, Sia, Portishead. I generally hate pop music unless it's intentionally stupid (Lonely Island). I listen to a lot of VG music as well. Basically I kept a lot of mainstream crap on my computer for those dates that aren't ready for what I listen to.
The guy who won rapper of the year and stayed on billboard? Lol how?
What so something's not alt anymore if they win a bunch of awards and have top selling albums?
Here's my point. Most rap artists are contractually obligated to use half of their album for club bangers. They're expected to sell x amount of albums before they see any profit. This is the reason why groups like The Roots used to stay on tour all year round, and why other artist head overseas to make more money. Maklemore is one of the few artists who came out under their own label (this having ultimate creative freedom that artists rarely see until around their 3rd or 4th album, only to get alienated by fans who was expecting club bangers) and still talked about a lot of garbage.
Same love- song about inequality towards homosexuality.
A wake- song about inequality towards race
Two thought provoking tracks that get watered down by party songs, materialistic things (Cadillacs, shoes, and buying clothes) oh and he's got that one track about leaving a girl. Compare that to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Black on Both Both sides, or Blazing Arrow. Those artists were forced in a box in a box and still had more thought provoking tracks.
Again, how is he alt when his lyrics say he's everyone else?
Excuse me for not following record labels and radio statistics and such but his songs are very alt because my friends and I are super alt, hence why we smoke american spirit cigarettes, and all of us listen to Macklemore.
Next you'll tell me Johnny Hobo isn't alt.
Actually, fuck it, I haven't heard this one in a minute
You and your friends have similar tastes in music and cigarettes, and you guys could be hella alt. But you still haven't managed to tell me how Macklemore is alt. Is it off of his mixtapes or something?
People often tend to consider my taste of music a bit odd sometimes.. but if it's good, well then it's good no matter what label it seems to be needed. Here is one "odd" goodie, that always keep the adrenaline levels up when it's time for a good workout session. Enjoy:banana: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zH9wHWMi_k
I simply simply adore Sigur Ros, and no not because of that bloody Vanilla Sky film either, i have followed them since 2000, saw them live twice last year, two of the most electrifying experiences of my life thus far, hearing Sćglópur with the band mere feet away was unforgettable!
I also quite like Grimes, her track Genesis is awesome, pretty cool video too.
Off With Their Heads are an awesome punk band, really like their vibe!
I Break Horses make the most dreamy electro, saw them live twice too, most recently in January at Shoreditch in London.
And i still listen to old school rave music, not the happy hardcore shite but the older tunes from 88 onwards, acid house, minimal techno, i have hours and hours of MP3's with nothing but pirate radio from the early 90's.
I love all forms of reggae, from the bashment ting to lovers rock, its all good!
Also like Aphex Twin, Classical music, New Age (Medwyn Goodall, Asher Quinn etc), and Melt Banana are pretty tasty in a confusing sort of way...
Sigur Ros is pretty good but a little too mainstream for me.
Well, I like Owl City (old songs), Lights, SkytidE, and A Burning Century. I'd say I'm pretty weird.
For me. I listen to music such as Juno Reactor KMFDM, or Kill Memory Crash. Smooth Electro Jazz From Caravan Palace. To the more sequence themed music from Blue Stahli, Celldweller. I also like melodic music from M83, Enya. To the completely alt. music of Anamanaguchi. Yeah i'm kind of all over the place.
But to put it in general terms. Industrial, Drum&Bass, Ambient, Chiptunes, PowerMetal, old school hip-hop to Game & Cinema themed music.
This band are certainly an aquired taste, the Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain, Anarchy In The UK(lele)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CccSi5Js6E Alright this is probably the most odd music I've heard before, or atleast the most creative. I think that the bathroom part have the best sound to it, but that the living room part is the funniest.:]
DreamyBear i like that video a lot, the bedroom sequence was pretty good i thought!
*The Yellow One*

Alright awesome guys!:) I like the part in the bedroom when they sit at the makeup table, and one guy are trying to make some sound from those powder-makeup-cushions-things xD Well
I mostly listen to eletronic music these days. Here's some neat stuff I found recently that I really like. Has a very '80s eletronic feel to it.
