This is not only obscure music, the whole instrument is highly obscure - got to post that in my amazement thread (see sig) as well.

I met this guy in Austin, Texas, two years ago. I was drunk and talking to strangers, and I ended up with a group of people in a field in Zilker Park. This guy started playing his guitar and singing. Right before he started, my thought was, "Oh, great. Another person playing guitar and singing when I didn't ask him to. Whatever." However, I was majorly impressed. I love his music. I think he should be famous, but the wrong musicians get famous these days. He used to have a lot of his musical performances on YouTube, but he took his other ones down for some reason. This is the only one I can find on the internet now. His name is Matt Panera.

I adore The XX for their simple and reduced elegance. Music without any kind of pomp or flashyness.

It's probably only obscure in time and pop culture, but it's amazing nonetheless.

I don't really know anything about music "culture", so I don't really know if any of these are actually obscure, heh.

This person makes odd, beautiful music out of little bits of disney films.

This is a group of people that graduated from my old high school a year before I left. I was in orchestra with them. Never really knew them, but as far as I know, they're all nice. The brown-haired cello kid (whose name I will not say) later left the group to do even cooler cello things. I don't even know if this song is all that great or if I just wanna brag about "knowing" the members of a nice-sounding band. Ey!

Again, no idea if this is obscure or not. Either way. This song makes me feel very warm and happy inside.

The playlist I'm listening to is called an An Ipanema of the Mind, and it is a total dancefest despite the fact that many of the songs are completely unintelligible to me. Makes me wanna listen to Buena Vista Social Club reeeaallll bad.

Anyway, they all have a distinct flair...makes me think of coconut rum, cool water and hot sand, sarongs, that sorta thing:

"Manha De Carnaval" by Sylvia Telles

"Cancao De Amour" by Bebel Gilberto

"Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Nouvelle Vague

It's not often you see a middle-aged woman playing the part of a teenage boy. Unless it's a certain Mozart opera

An Australian rock group in the 60's called THE CHEROKEES, and the song is called Thundercloud. I don't know why the film charade is in this clip, because I am almost positive that the song is not heard anywhere in the film.

Some of you my recognize this tune from a Nintendo, Famicom, Amiga etc game called "UNINVITED" (point and click game)

I heard the game music first, and then one day heard this song and was like, "I've heard this song somewhere, but don't know where I heard it."

These guys were ahead of their time, and came up with some crazy sounds. The problem is the album with Thundercloud is damn near impossible to track down, not amazon nor ebay has it, not even vinyl, or tape cassette. So I will have to settle for youtube until then.

Let me know if you dig it or not

Finnish metal / goth metal band

You will have to look this one up on youtube, My account isn't more than 3 days old and is preventing me from posting another video link. It is worth the search, you will not be disappointed if you are into Finnish rock music.

Sky Architect, a newer Dutch prog band, especially their album A Billion Years of Solitude, is really good.

Also glad to finally know the name of this song, which I've liked for a long time.
