Almost Famous - If you're into Rock N' Roll, this is a must see. It feels like you're actually being on a tour around America with the band that the movie focuses on, Stillwater. Even if you're not into Rock N' Roll the movie depicts perfectly what the music and the life style is all about. The movie has a somewhat arrogant and attention-seeking female lead character, but there's an intervention that left me with tears running down my face. 8+/10, as an music-movie, easy 9+. The only con of the movie is that it feels like the director told the lead boy character to do this overly innocent smile over and over again, but maybe that's just me. OH, and the movie is hilarious at times!!

      Captain America Civil war

10/10. It was honestly the best marvel movie since The Avengers. It was totally different from the comic arc it was based on, but it still worked out.

I saw Finding Dory and of course I liked it.

The beginning is very familiar and old hat as the story is linked with the first movie. But once they end up in California, the movie was different. It was a bit darker and more dramatic while still being entertaining. It was lots of fun to watch how the characters solve difficult problems using their creativity to overcome their disabilities. This ends up the moral of the movie. Also, I think the climax of the movie was one of Pixars best.

It was interesting how the movie endorsed the positive aspects of marine life parks while bashing on the negative aspects.

I'll probably see it a couple more times like I usually do with movies I like.

Suicide Squad- Could have been so much better. Overused nostalgia soundtrack. One song even gave away a key "surprise" element. Waay too much bullets and not enough melee attacks. And the melee that was involved was so cut up that it was hard to keep up with. Will Smith and Margot Robbie did a really good job; they carried the movie. Everyone else was trash. I'm not sure why they had killer croc talking so slow, but it was annoying to hear. 2 out of 5 would watch again to See Margot Robbies ass.

Ghostbusters- Not sure if I reviewed this....but 5/5. I watched the originals loved them. Watched the cartoons...loved them. And now here this comes......saw it....loved it. I walked in with no thoughts on the movie other than thinking there might be a bunch of SWJ action in it, but there wasn't. There was slight reverse sexism, but it was done well and very funny. The action was great, and the 3-D effects were really good. If you haven't seen it, go see it. Don't listen to freaking reviews...just watch it.

Watched: "Eyes Of The Mothman", it was a feature-length documentary of the real story behind the legend of The Mothman. It was a documentary. It was crazy. Enough said.

Pets... at least my kids enjoyed it. I just loved the trailer anyway... Zoomania was way much better, specially after the fiasco of Crimson Peak.

"Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory" from 1971 for the first time.
I have seen a lot of scenes from that movie on YouTube though, so I recognised most parts of it.

I have actually always thought that Veruca Salt in that movie is really pretty - most people seem to think of her as "that spoiled brat", and sure, that's a good point, but she is definitely ridiculously cute at the same time.

      Dr. Strange.

Good main character development/drama/setup but the story gets kinda confusing as the movie goes on. Really I'd have to watch it a few more times and see if I end up gaining an understanding of the movie and liking it more or seeing all the flaws and plot holes it has and liking it less. (Or both.) The visuals would make for some really good lucid dreaming inspiration though, and there was no part of the movie that I downright hated. 6.5/10...

I saw Rogue One a while back 3.5 out of 5. The action was good, but the movie lacked character development. TBH, I would have rather seen a Netflix series based on the characters leading up to this movie, or just a series about it in general. Lots of interesting characters, but I don't know crap about them, and it left me not caring.

NEW DREAM RELATED/DREAM'ISH MOVIE (Anime) - Kimi no na wa.

Great movie. Great and refreshing plot, greatly emotional and funny. Beautiful animation. I'd suggest it to anyone here who enjoys animated movies and dreamish movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol II (For as long as I'm living at home, my dad is going to continue to make me see MCU movies.)

The movie tone-shifts a lot from somewhat serious and dramatic to completely comedic and silly, but somehow these transitions never feel jarring. and a few of the jokes made me laugh. I get that this movie is trying to be fun and relatively lighthearted, Though flashy CGI effects and witty one-liners can only keep me entertained for so long. It's probably an amazing movie to someone, but that someone is not me. I feel like all the MCU movies are just good to okay and none of them really stand out and that's starting to diminish my opinion of them. 6/10.

The last film I saw was The Cure for Wellness. At first it seemed promising, with good cinematography and sort of a Shutter Island vibe. In the end, it kind of just sucked.

      Just saw Thor Ragnarok.

I think that Marvel needs to stop leaning so much on comedy and give us character arcs that aren't so basic. I get that these are in a sense, cartoon characters, but Marvel is known for writing heroes that are like real people. Though the comedy generally lands, I don't think it's what these movies should focus on, especially a Thor movie. Someone like Deadpool should get a silly movie because he's a silly character, but IMO someone like Thor should be played more straight. I'm not saying this movie should be devoid of comedy, but 50+ percent of the jokes should have been cut. In some scenes they work but in others they just undercut the dramatic tension.

Doctor Strange was in this movie for... some reason. He didn't really contribute anything significant to the plot, just directed the characters to a destination they would be at for a few minutes. Spoiler by the way.

Random underdeveloped marvel villain #16 is in this movie, with unexplained powers. Also this might be asking for too much, but in her backstory it's implied that she worked alongside Odin from the beginning to build their empire by conquering realms, but was later cast aside when Odin saw she was getting too power hungry, but still implied that she and Odin were both 'bad' at one point. But this is never made into an actual conflict with Thor like it should be; challenging Thor's notion that his father wasn't always the pure and noble man that he thought he was.

Also Marvel uses way too many obnoxiously bright colors these days, both in their posters and movies. I cannot stand the color palette of the [whatever the planet was]. The funny thing is Thor actually points out in-movie that the color palette of the city is crap, like this somehow excuses it.

Maybe I'm getting older, or maybe I'm just getting used to flashy action movies, but it's pretty hard to sell me on action scenes alone anymore. Plus the fight choreography while solid, is not that unique or inspired. Maybe It's because I've seen so many marvel movies by now but every fight outside of the first one (which wasn't even really all that plot relevant) I just saw the same moves used in the same ways.

Also can we stop inexplicably bringing Loki back to life.

I'm not saying its bad. I'm saying after 18 movies you should be able to do more.

      5/10.

Mgh I hope the Last Jedi turns out to be good, and not a rip off of Empire. From what I've heard we might be at the very least getting a really good big space battle. (Opening of ROTS/ Ending of ROTJ level) Also I swear if Rey gets her hand cut off in the second movie of her trilogy--

Dang...Seeing this thread just made me realize I haven't seen a movie in ages. It's not a choice I made, so I have no idea how it happened. But I guess days go by and some point I just got used to not watching anything and then forgot that it was an option... I love movies and TV-shows.. haven't seen any of those either.

Can't seem to remember what the last one was... But it was at the cinema I'm sure.

Edit: It was Blade Runner 2049! So it's probably a month ago I really loved it! I'm a huge synthesizer nerd and my expectations to the sound design were astronomical based on the original Blade Runner's Vangelis soundtrack. The new movie lived up to my expectations. That would have made the movie worth watching by itself.

Same here. I think in the age of Netflix and YouTube, it's rare to actually go out to the movies or actually watch something on the TV (where my fellow cord-cutters at? ).

Last movie I saw (on Netflix) was the Minions movie. There were about 3 times in it that I legitimately burst out in laughter and had to pause because of it, but the rest of it was the same kind of boring humor you'd expect from the Minions movie - lots of toilet humor and "minions are unintelligent" tropes. Yes, I know, it's a kids movie, and for a kids movie sure it was okay. But I mean, Disney can make kids movies that are still entertaining for adults, so it's obviously not completely unreasonable to expect at least a little more.

4/10 for me, but I'll give a 6/10 just because I'm obviously not the target demographic.

I cut the cord, and when I brought the cable box back to the Charter Spectrum office the ladies looked at me like I was some kind of alien. They told me that as soon as I decided I want it back all I have to do is re-subscribe and come pick up the box again. Wow - like we're all pod people and aren't supposed to break away from the slave-box! I wonder how many watch lists I went on just for doing that? I honestly think they believed I was only un-subbing from cable because I couldn't afford it and that I couldn't wait to get it back.

Not really a movie, but the last quality entertainment I partook of was Stranger Things 2, and it was pretty amazing. I think the best writers, directors and producers etc are all migrating from Hollywood to Netflix and to some of the cable stations that make good series. Ash vs Evil Dead comes to mind, on Starz.

Rebound: The Legend of Earl "The Goat" Manigault.

An inspiring movie based on a true story of what could've been the greatest basketball player who turned to drugs only to rebound later in life.

Movies with eye-popping visuals inspire mindfulness while watching them, at least for me. The repeated and more sustained mindfulness seems to contribute to spontaneous lucidity for me. Two movies I recently watched that inspired mindfulness and seemed to contribute to spontaneous lucids for me were Valerian - City of a Thousand Planets and Hugo. Both had dream sequences as well, for an added bonus. Hugo had a dream within a dream - false awakening sequence. Watching in 4K helps with the "pop" in eye-popping. I enjoyed both stories.

Thank you for those mentioning Almost Famous. I had scanned past that before thinking it didn't sound interesting to me but I really enjoyed it. Not eye popping, but very enjoyable. I recognized one of the semi-autobiographical portrayals in the movie (written and directed by Cameron Crowe) from a segment of the recent HBO documentary on Rolling Stone magazine.

*Any suggestions for movies with eye-popping visuals, that have at least a pretty good story, are very welcome.
