      Athena's Little Dream Journal

      11-6-08
Okay!!! So my main focus is to learn how to lucid dream to control my rather frightening nightmares. Being day one, today is hopefully the day I start to make just a little bit of progress. Okay main nightmare...

I'm all alone in a big old house and I feel like I'm being watched, but there is no one else around. I randomly walk around the house just poking around when I hit the stairs on the bottom floor to go up, I hear some one cry out in pain and call my name. This is generally followed by pleas for me to help. But when I call back to them, nothing, silence. Then I feel like there is some one behind me, getting ready to hurt me. So I run up the stairs to get away. I run through a hallway trying to find a door to escape into, but they are all locked except for the one at the end of the hall. So I go in. Of course the door locks behind me and I'm stuck i a room full of faceless and nameless bodies, and know the murderer is hiding in the room with me. I want out but I dare not turn my back on the bodies and I eventually wake up sweating and panting like CRAZY or I'm tangled in my sheets on the floor.

So my main focus is to banish this dream and others like by gaining control of my dreams. Any help or advice would be MUCH appriciated. Thanks.

Whew. Last night wasn't quite so horrible when it came to nightmares. I just didn't dream at all. I like having good dreams but the nightmares make it so I either have them or no dreams at all. Hrmph. I need to try Ninja's trick of reality checks. Hopefully those will work. This is going to be a lot of work getting rid of these memory nightmares.

Oh crud... Nightmares... getting... worse. GAH!!!!! I dreamt that I was stuck in a small box, and that my tormentors were going to open the box and pour in all these spiders. Ewwww..... I hate spiders. But I woke up. Then I dreamt that I was stuck in a tomb in the desert and all my companions that I was with just up and left me to every creature and demon inside. But what walked around the corner was not a demon or half decomposed mummy but my abusive ex boyfriend. Are there ANY significances to these nightmares or are they just that?... nightmares. At this rate I'm gonna be an insomniac. Grrr. I need to check out that tutorial Placebo suggested.

Well, you actually dream every night, so the times you say you didn't dream, you simply didn't recall your dreams. Though I figure that might be looked upon as positive with all these nightmares, hmm.

It seems the ultimate foundation below all lucid dream inducing techniques is awareness. Try being more aware in your waking life and being more curious of whether you're dreaming or not. Perhaps then the nightmares will just help you become lucid all the more.

As for reasons behind the nightmares...are you going through any emotional or mental strains?
I would suggest really relaxing and calming your mind when going to bed. It seems to help in many ways, from dream recall to just a more restful night in general.

interesting... i've been having a lot of nightmares recently, too.
i dont know whether to feel scared or not though because during nightmares my dreams are so vivid and I'm in really random scary situations that I know cannot be real so I instantly lucid dream... the nightmareish quality of my dreams actually HELPS to become lucid!

i know its kinda scary but, athene, try making it a habit to perform a reality check whenever you are scared!
The sun and moon pass over my shoulders,
I see mountains and rivers all in the palm of my hand.

Nightmares are great. Easy to learn to DILD if you get nightmares all the time :]

Thx guys, I'll keep this in mind. What do any of ya know about sleepwalking??? That is another thing that has afflicted me in my sleep.

And as for your concern Merlock, about any emotional or mental srains... OH YES!!! I have not been diagnosed officially, but i have been told by people that I might have PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder... in case you didn't know) could this be a factor as well to the nightmares and the sleepwalking? Due to my previous experinces with my ex and his drunk buddies, let's just say my emotional and mental stress are a daily part of life. My current boyfriend now ( who worships the ground I walk on and treats me right) has also moved away, out of town so we hardly ever get to see each other and that has wieghed heavy on me as well as my work life and my schooling. And when it comes to the realm of dreams i'm pretty helpless, although, with some help from Placebo and Ninja I was able to realize my nightmare was only a dream last night, but instead of becoming lucid I just woke up...

Well, today, is tha day where my step forward is followed by a couple steps backward.Grrr. My nightmare was so real last night that I began doing some serious sleepwalking. Wow. I didn't know I could light candles in my sleep. I also arrayed an assortment of rocks, and dandelions on my desk. Wierd. I need to lock myself in my room or something to avoid leaving like I have before, save myself any physical harm. Hopefully my two steps backward will be responded with a step or two forward.

So much dreaming and so little control. Well not only is my sleep walking decreasing but I am officially halucinating. I think I need to be committed because I am seeing things that shouldn't even be there when I am awake! Maybe I had too much to drink on New Years. HI again everyone! Been awhile since I've been on so what's up?

No change. Dreams, dreams and more dreams. I am remembering them now, but still no control no matter how hard I try. I know I'm dreaming, but the scenes still repeat themselves in my head. The dreams aren't pleasant, but they're not nightmares. I just need to find a catalyst in my dream world and maybe then I'll be able to exert some form of control, even if it's just making the dream speed up or slow down. Anything would be nice right about now.

So far the most often reacurring dream is the one where I am looking down at myself lying in bed really sick. I can see everything about myself, my breathing is ragged, my face is covered in sweat and I'm lying like I've been tucked in by someone, but there is no one in the room with me. Then suddenly (it surprises me everytime) my dream self jerks in her sleep, and I just KNOW that I'm dying. Then I wake up.

Success! I had a very strange, long dream but I managed to realize that I was dreaming... aaand, control was mine!
okay, I dreamt that I was swimming in the ocean and that I was surrounded by all these sharks. I paused, reality checked and I realized I'd never be anywhere near the middle of the ocean surrounded by sharks, soooo, the sharks disapeared and I kept on swimming, surrounded instead by pretty color fish. It was AWESOME! No nightmares just your average wierd swimming dream. This is one of th first times that I am excited to go to sleep at night!

I hate my dreams. If I remember them they are frightning or I don't even remember them. Was the dream where I was locked in the room full of dead bodies. So much fun.

      Talking Lucidity! Finally!

Yeah! Another success, this time I was actually lucid!
I was stuck in the house, running up the stairs when I jsut finally screamed "NO!" I kicked down the first door instead of running to the last one and Islammed the door in my pursuer's face... it was quite satisfying. I looked around the new room and I remember it in vivid detail. The walls were a soft white, it was bright and warm in there and there was a little vanity with a mirror and a bed with a wrought iron frame. I didn't ike the white walls so I changed them to a soft blue and I decided the room needed some greenery, but my topiary turned into more of a pathetic vicus tree. Oh well. But I just decided that I wanted to sleep so I lay in the big comfy bed but as soon as I closed my eyes, I opened them in reality. I wa having a good time with that. I can't wait to go to bed tonight!!!!

bleh. My dream life sucks... big time! I had a dream that I was in the store with my boyfriend, but I was attacked by an ex, and let's just say the downward spiral was pretty dramamtic from there. Talk about an emotional gut punch. Grr... Maybe my situation will improva after graduation, less stress, plus I'll be moving into my new house all by meself! This will be fun, and if i need help, one of my girly friends will move in with me to help pay rent!

But really, I'v egotten so paranoid that I'm locking my bedroom door at night, and the thing is, I'm doing it in my sleep. This isn't the first time, Iv'e done worse (like waking up with a butcher knife under my pillow... but yea... safe to say my boyfriend is nervous about moving in with me... anyway)
SO, I think I'm going to try and completely physically exhaust myself before bed, anf then maybe I won't sleep walk OR remember any dreams.

Well I have been quite busy in my waking life but my sleeping life has been busy too. I'm lucid almost everynight now. My nightmares have decreased to a once every two weeks kind of deal. My goal if it continues like this is to try flying and conjuring up people and the like, to try and see what my limits are.

My favorite lucid dream lately has been so relaxing.
I'm sitting on the shore of a beautiful lake that is surrounded by pine trees and the occasional madrone tree. There are three suns in the sky, a normal looking sun, a greeen sun and a red sun.
By this time I'm bored so I decide to go riding and my horse appears with nothing but a halter and lead line on so I decide to just go swimming with my horse. So I leap up onto her back and we ride into the lake and go swimming. I can look down and see that the water is crystal clear and never deeper that about 30 feet and there are sparkling rocks on the lake bed.

It is a short dream but it is beautiful. Ocassionally we'll go riding on shore instead but the swimming is my favorite so I never try to find or conjure up a saddle, but I think tonight I'm going to try and give my horse pegasus wings and ride her over the lake. Now that would be so freakin' cool!

      YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
My horse and I flew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was freaking amazing!!!!!!!!! It was the coolest thing I had ever experinced in my dreams, hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so I fell asleep and I was dreaming that I was (for some wierd reson that unbeknownst to me and a little) making out with one of my best guy friends on my roof. Two words... REALITY CHECK! Instantly my friend was replaced with Cam Giganget! (Score!) So now I'm lucid I decide to try the pegasus horse thing. So now I'm at the lake again and there's my horse with pegasus wings. I hop on and off we went. It was the coolest sensation ever. I remember feeling totally weightless and being able to see everything below me.

Best dream I ever had... probably because of Cam!

Well, last night was odd. I fell asleep and I began dreaming about my best guy friend again. For some reason we were in South Korea out in some country side enjoying I was dreaming, but I was intrigued so I went along with it. We were sitting there talking like we normally do and then all of the sudden he turned to look right into my eyes and kissed me, the bad thing was, I kissed back and I couldn't gain lucdity. So I basically was doomed all night to watch my almost brother and I make out!!! Thank god for neighbors who fire up the Chevy Novas in the middle of the night right outside my house. It woke me up and I was silently thanking god. I love my friend, but not that way.

I went back to sleep and dreamt about it again but I got lucidity that time and everything just whited out till I filled in the blanks. I was then sailing on a small sail boat off the Turkish coast and loving every dream second of it.

I think the reason I've been dreaming of my best friend so much is because he is having major girl troubles, and I am having major guy troubles. Unfortunately my subconcious seems to think that me+him=solution. Maybe a few years from now but until then my subconcious needs to STFU!

Angry I've Hit A Damn Wall!

What is wrong with ME?!!!!!? For all five nights of that camping trip I took, I've dreamt of my great guy friend. I've hit a wall!!! Whenever I dream of him I can't gain lucidity! Also to make things worse, a song about kissing and physical attractions is stuck in my fuckin' head!!!!!!!! I'm not sleeping now due to the fact that I'm refusing to dream of him anymore! He's been like my brother!! And now that I keep dreaming about kissing him (the last one was a bit more frustratingly more intimate) it's making hanging out with him a challenge. Not to mention him and I going to be hanging out together at a huge campout on the coast. RARRGH!!

Try telling yourself when you go to sleep at night that if you start kiss him.
that you will do a reality check, even go so far as to do rc's when your around him.

when i used to have nightmares alot, i did the same thing for them and now every time im running from something in a dream i ether go lucid or wake up

Thx, I'll try the waking reality checks when I'm around him. It's just well... no matter how hard I try to gain lucidity in these dreams it just doesn't happen. Last night was another wonderful example.

I began dreaming about it again, knew I was dreaming but instead of going lucid, I woke up. So I go back to sleep, and sure enough here it is again, reality check, I know I'm dreaming but I can't move anything except my eyes. I can't even change the person or the scene or anything! It is frustrating me so much.

      AWESOME DREAM!!!

Whoa! I took a little nap today after doing some errands and I had a wierd dream. For once it wasn't about my guy friend.

I was on an old abandoned steeple chase/cross country course for thourough bred horses out in the middle of these woods. I was walking along lost, just trying to fing my way out. Then this huge black wolf with silver tipped ears and crest crossed my path. It sat down on it's haunches and cocked it's head looking at me and there was something about it's eyes that made me think he was laughing at me. Next there's a voice in my head telling me that my name is not what I think it is. The voice told me that I had one name just known by different ways. I suddenly realized the voice came from the wolf!

"I was sent with others to guide and protect you, to take you into our pack. The others may have other names for you but with me your name will be Blue Wolf, and you may call me Silver Crest." As soon as he finished talking a chorus of howls sounded in the trees behind me. I turned to look and saw three wolves run out of the wood right at me. They playfully milled around me and I suddenly had three new voices talking to me. The first voice sounded female and very playful, mischevious, and strangely loving to. "She's too small to be a wolf, her name is Blue Coyote." The next voice had the tone of a big protective brother. "Naw, she's too cute to be a coyote, I'll call her Little Pup." The third voice was a very playful yet kind male that said: "No, look at the spirit in her, she obviously doesn't like those names because you call her small or cute, she is stubborn, and her eyes show her true colors. Her name is Fire Eyes." The three younger wolves all cocked their heads at me as if to study me, so I studied them. One was big brown wolf with gold eyes that made Silver Crest look petit. The next wolf was small and pure white with deep brown eyes that looked almost black. The third wolf was medium sized and was grey that faded to a black at it's paws and it's eyes were a pale blue. In short they were beautiful, each muscled and fierce looking yet here they sat before me with curiosity and friendliness.

Suddenly Silver Crest's voice interupted my study. "It's looks as though she has chosen all the names." confused, I looked down at myself and saw that I had paws, I looked behind me and there was a tail, I even crossed my eyes to see a snout! I was a wolf too! I was as small as the white wolf, and my fur was a silver grey color, but in the moonlight it did indeed look like a shiny, blue. I looked down at a puddle at my feet and saw my eyes reflected in the water, they were a strange red-gold with flecks of black. They reminded me exactly of the embers of a fire.

My four new companions started chuckling at my reactions and suddenly I was bulldozed to the ground by the white wolf, who was wanting to play and wrestle. I couldn't help myself, I played and laughed with them while Silver Crest sat and watched us. And suddenly we were running. We weren't running from anything, or racing, just running for the sheer joy of it.

The dream was so vivid, I remember feeling the wind in my fur, the smell of freshly rained on pine trees, the feel of soft sandy dirt under paws and just the sheer happiness exuding from my friends and myself, as we ran and even jumped the thourough bred jumps on the steeple chase.

This dream was hands down the coolest dream I have ever had! And it wasn't even lucid! Very trippy, strange and different, but very happy, I actually woke with a smile on my face.

It seems the wolf dream was only a reprieve. I dreamt about my guy firend again. Sparing the details, but once again it was more romantic than friendship. Is there jsut something wrong with me? Maybe I'm just getting to wound up about this... maybe jokingly telling him about it would help, or just creep him out and make him think I've turned into some sort of obsessed stalker! Ah well.

I tried the technique for inducing a lucid dream by making my body fall asleep before my mind, twice, and still no lucid success. It seems I have more success with just going to sleep and becoming lucid by chance than I do by actually inducing it myself. Must fix that. I'll try again tonight and hopefully have a little success.

But as for what I actually dreamt of last night... well... my friend and I were once again a little too friendly. I'm not sure how to banish these, they are so persistent and I can't ever become lucid enough to change let alone becoming lucid at all, becasuese I'm trying so hard, yet not trying hasn't helped either. Hence my interest in this WILDing technique. This is just becoming so ridiculous, and well... I'm starting to enjoy it in my dream which is not okay with me; the last thing I need is to develop a crush on my best friend.. it would be much too strange for my tastes. Anyway, lilke I said hopefully tonight's attempts will yield some good results.

Well, I did the SP technique again last night and well... Success! I managed to have a lucid dream but, I'm not sure how it happened. I felt that wave go over my body and it took me about 10 minutes to slow my mind down. I kept my eyes closed the whole time and I felt myself drifting. I was then dreaming but I had no control just quite yet. I got up out of my bed and walked into my living room where my firend was waiting for me. He said something a little less than sexually appropriate and tried to kiss me. BAM! Lucidity! (My timer went off) I held nim at arms length and told him he was a great friend and that I had no feelings like this for him what so ever, and that his time would be better spent pursuing somebody else's dreams. He chuckled said okay and walked out my front door waving goodbye like a friend should. FINALLY!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO! I sat down on my couch in my living room when the door in my dream was knocked on. I went to go answer the door and I woke up. Someone really was knocking on my door at 6:30 am. It was my mom, who had locked herself out when leaving for work without her car keys. DRAT! But it did work!

Well, it's been awhile but my DJ needs attention even if I won't be DV a whole lot. To start off I'm just going to list my dream from last night. I have had fewer and fewer nightmares but last night was the exception. It was first nightmare in about three and half weeks. I was out in the vegetable garden trying to weed in between the corn rows and not pull up any sunflowers, when all of the sudden a shadow fell over me and Brian was standing behind me with a wicked smile. He grabbed me by the hair and drug me out of the garden and raped me. I tried screaming for a neighbor to come help me but I had no voice. A cop showed up and said we needed to do that somewhere else. I tried telling him that I was just raped but I still had no voice. It sucked, I woke crying I was so frustrated that I couldn't go lucid.
