Thread: creating memories

Yes, I've also experienced this. It's hard to explain but you'll see something in a dream that you'll swear you've seen or dreamed about before. But I've never quite figured out if I really did dream about it before, or if it's just my dream mind making it up...

I think i know what your talking about. I've remember a dream within a dream many times, and it has often been a key to becoming lucid.
EG;
After a long drive with friend partying and drhinking in the back of the convertable i was driving, i ended up at a place called sandy beach where i grew up, we pulled up and stared paddling out for a surf, on the way out i looked back to the beach and it looked realy different, i said to one of my friends that it reminded me of a dream i ha.....then i remembered that dream, realsied this one was a dream also and became Lucid.

Is this what you mean, remembering another dream inside a dream?

not exactly a dream within a dream but a memory from the past in the dream..hard to explain like think u were in a dream and ur thought it was real life and u really were the dream charactor then u just remembered something that had happened a long time ago...its like creating a false memory of the life i was living in the dream, that just rolled off my tounge but thats exactly what i meean

I had a similar non lucid dream experience

I am in a building with a group of youths and I suddenly realise my wallet is missing! I panic and start asking the kids if they seen my wallet around anywhere? This girl said I left it by the side of the swimming pool when I changed to go swimming. I said oh yeah !! thanks and I walked through a couple doors down a hall strait to the pool where I knew my wallet was.

After I woke up I realised something a little odd. Before the girl told me where my wallet was I had no Idea about the swimming pool, it wasnt even part of my dream but after she told me it all clicked in. I knew right where to go to find the pool. Like a false memory was implanted.

As Burns said, it's really difficult to explain this. I've had similar experiences. I'm either awake or in a dream and I see something I SWEAR I'd seen or dreamt of before. I usually can't actually get straight whether I actually had or hadn't. o_o

I also had a dream, some woman was a policeman and she said we met before but I didn't remember, but I believed her. When I woke up I rememberd a dream, but could not tell if I ever dreamed this woman before.

In another, diferent dream I remember a dream before. It goes like this:
1. I dreamed i was in a car with my friends, it was night and we were driving close to sea. Somehow we crashed in sea and I begun to drawn. Water was green and dark. I was in panic and I woke up.
2. Few monts later I dreamed that I was in a bus with some people and bus was driving in some port, really too close to sea and somehow bus felt in sea. I begun to drown. Then I remembered first dream about this drawning, and woke up.
3. Again, few months later I dreamed similar thing. This time I was with my mum in a car, driving also near to sea, mum was driving too fast and we got of road, flying in air down to sea, and again i remembered having 1st and 2nd dream and woke up.
