Species Specific Dreams. I would love to know what my Dog is dreaming about. WOOF WOOF.
I was thinking about this question throughout the day. I mean, when they sleep their brains might go through the same changes as ours do when we are sleep. This might even be more relevant in animals such like chimpanzees who's body structure is extremely similar to ours. So what do you think?

I'm not sure if an animal's level of consciousness is sufficient to know the difference between the dream world and reality...
But then many dogs do seem to dream vividly...
Thats trueI'm not sure if an animal's level of consciousness is sufficient to know the difference between the dream world and reality... [/b]![]()
I would love if a chimp could communicate to me about their level of consiousness, learn more to see if they do dream as vividly as humans.
Dogs often bark and move their tail when they sleep.....
They must go through some form of REM sleep, but like latency said, how could they tell the different between the 'real' world and the 'dream' world.![]()

Maybe dogs cant LD. They don't understand what reality is...and of course they cant learn that...so they will always be regarding Dreams as reality. However, at least, they dream![]()
I think, they cant even recognise themselves...in front of a mirror.![]()

I doubt they have the capacity to do so

Do animals even think? I mean, they have to be pretty stupid .. I don't think they can learn or anything, they only specific things. (of course I'm just saying this off of my head)
nah, i just think their chillin...i think they have more control of what happens in a dream, as they are frequent to chase something or tear something apart....

The world Lucid Dream means that you are aware that you are dreaming, that i dont think that animals can do, but im sure that they have a simpler mind allows them to do whatever they wanna do in a dream...Originally posted by dreamboat

Dreamboat : I once saw my old (dead) dog moving his feat like he was running, I was trying to think about what was he thinking, the first idea that came to my head was that he was running after a cat, in a gym full of cats and meat on the floor!!!![]()
I don't know about LDs, but my dog can have Sci-Fi's. His name is Corky and I've seen him once in a Sci-Fi and he spoke to me (in an English accent!).
He had a tan cord and he was far away from his duplicate...he asked me if I knew the way back home and I explained to him that he would have to follow his cord (he calls it a leash) back to his body.
At first he was a bit put off by the whole ordeal, but I gave him a Dream Biscuit and he became complacent.
PS - My dog and I also play Telephone, but his bark bubbles seem to get intercepted by everyone within close proximity.![]()

Err... did InTheMoment and NesGirl switch accounts or something?![]()

Mynd you, møøse bites Kan be pretty nasti...
I think they can. All they really have to know is that a dream isn't real, and it would be considered lucid. What about the animals that sleep for like 20 hours a day? Now they have to be doing some serious dreaming. Their in dreams more often than they are awake.

wtf is a sci-fi

I'm not sure about dogs but as much as my cat sleeps she better be LDing. She is either sleeping or making babies lol.![]()
I really don't think so, but I think that he could be spending time either reading my DJ, my senseless banter, or he could be hanging out on Dreamin of Gamin, as an anonymus has posted in there....& it could be him!Originally posted by nightowl+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nightowl)</div>Ugghh! I did not want Sci-fis to start here.....I try to keep that in the Senseless Banter. Anyways, a Sci-fi is a combination of WILD, FA, & Real Life, yet it is still some sort of LD!wtf is a sci-fi[/b]

Sci-Fi is a touchy subject. At nesgirls request, I am asking you peepsx to limit sci-fi discussion to her topics in senseless banter.
Thanks!![]()

Dolphins only sleep with half of their mind, while the other regulates breathing, keeping their blowhole above water and keeping watch for danger.
Dolphins are self consious, recognise themselves in mirrors ect...
So what kind of state are they in when they "Sleep?" Is it a Lucid state and are they aware that part of their mind is in the dream world?
Ive had dreams where I was partially aware of my physical surroundings and the dream world its a little weird but you can kind of focus on one and go with it.
Im gona have to ask one I guess![]()

i'm sure animals are capable of a lot more than we'll ever know. considering a cat sleeps over 20 hours a day, i'm sure it has some concept of dreams. if we slept that long each day i bet we'd know a lot more about dreams and how to control and take part in them. just because animals can't talk definitely doesn't mean they can't think.
NO I dont believe animals can lucid dream, theres no way they would know what dreams were and what reality was, although they may be able to will things to happen in their dreams (like lucid dreaming except they are unaware they are dreaming)
