Sounds interesting. Good luck on your new journey..
This might sound hard to believe, but 2 days ago I had a single thought that was the single most impotant thing ever. I don't even know what it was about, but it seemed like it was the only thing that ever mattered. When it hit me what I had just thought of, I instantly forgot. How do I know I even thought it you ask? I wrote down my reaction on forgetting it. To say the least I was frustrated, and there was a lot of uncomprihesible scribbles and swear words. I think the memory of what I thought was suppresed and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on recovering suppressed memories through lucid dreaming.
I had a strange dream last night...

Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
I've had just that sort of thing happen to me before too. You see, there's this super computer floating around the planet invading peoples thoughts and forcing them to forget certain ideas or complete thought processes all together. That's the only possible solution, of this I am 100% certain. It is statistically impossible for this to be untrue, go ahead and roll the odds yourself if you doubt me.
The super computer is trying to mold us in a certain way in order to fulfill the requirements of its programming. So say hello, he's always watching.

I also have felt that, but I dont think Mickeys answer is the reason.
I actually have a few theories on it, but they probably arn't right
1) we think we know something, but then when we wake up, we actually didn't, and it was a type of "illusion"
2) we do find something out, by suddenly contacting some higher realm, but it is to "big" for our minds to handle when we wake up, so it goes away
3) same as above, but it is forcably removed. I dont think it is a computer, though

I've done this a few times (various causes) and I agree with Keeper.
Lao Tzu springs to mind:
(from the first line of the Tao Te Ching) "The way that can be described is not the way."
Don't worry - you will remember it again if it was important! If you are really interested and can LD - go visit Lao Tzu himself (or your favorite mystic)- he/she will do their best to enlighten you I'm sure. Or go read the Book of Life, drink from the Fountain of Knowledge, etc...

When I say 'I see!' - I've opened not my eyes, but my mouth.
FORTYTWO! (j/k... any hitchhiker's guide fans out here?)
The thing is, while lucid dreaming, anything you believe to be true is true, and that means you should ditch any thoughts you have concerning the thought except when and where you had it.
and I seriously doubt reading the book of life in a dream is going to help, considering that in dreams, text changes at a second glance, and your brain is just going to put whatever you think would be in a book of life in there.

That is not true for everyone. I took notes and studyed in my dream... 2 minutes before the test, the closest thing to a nightmare I've had in ages. I was very reliefed when I woke up from the dream.
Lmao... I was just giving my two cents (although they are hardly worth two cents as i have never had a LD that I remembered)

Welcome to DV Lucidity Now!![]()
I would say that Truth IS accessable - by the BRAIN (how else do the mystics access it in the first place?) - but normally we don't allow ourselves to speak it, as in the sense of:
"Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."
Marianne Williamson in Return to Love: Reflections on a Course in Miracles
One reason dreaming is so exciting is because one can use it to tap the incredible wisdom of the subconscious (not perfect wisdom BTW!. Of course the dream version of the 'Book of Life' is written by the brain - but its written by the subconscious part.
And it is possible, as Bonsay suggests, to stabilise dream writing/reading. Difficult, but possible. I have read in my dreams - but if I think about it and scan ahead - the pages may well be blank - then of course the illusion is shattered! I think it just takes a certain trust that your subconscious (higher self, spirit guide, whatever) will fill in the blanks as you go - like with chanelling or automatic writing perhaps.

I see where you're coming from... and part of the reason that I want to LD and remember it is to find out more about my subconcious.

Using the maths of probability with inputs that tend to zero or infinity destroys the logic behind the argument.
As much I know you won't agree, I believe that there was no thought, simply the feeling that you forgot it. Quite often I wake up after a dream, convinced it was deja vu, but upon closer inspection, it was just an illusion I got upon waking. It is likely that you suffered a similar illusion. Feel free to search for this thought, but don't get to obsessed by the search.
Of course, I could be wrong, so if you discover the ultimate meaning, please do tell![]()
We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true. - Woodrow Wilson

Haha I agree it must have been the giant super-computer. Oh no! Now that I know he will try to come after me and "DELETE" me!
It might have been a Deja 'vu-like experiance, as I get it quite frequintly, but this was very different. As much I know you won't agree, I believe that there was no thought, simply the feeling that you forgot it. This has happened twice to me - not whilst dreaming, but in real life.
I felt so much like I'd just worked out THE question - but next thing I know I've completely forgotten it :Z

Sorry about your luck! Perhaps next time, it won't be so easily forgotten.

Hey Adanac,
I've had a few similar feelings about a few of my dreams. Some time ago I was trying to write screenplay and didn't have any really good ideas. Once in a dream I thought of a great plot (I was sure it was great) and when I woke up I realised the plot wasn't that great. How is that? Maybe you wanted in the dream to feel that you found out something very important, in reality it (let's say) wasn't that important but the important aspect here was that it FELT like it was important. Just my two cents...
This is going to sound REALLY noobish but how do you get the persons name to appear next to the quote box thing.I just can't figure it out. EDIT: I just figured it out by myself....YAY! lol
WOW, this'll be stupid too but that was what my topic was about... It happend to me in real life, I forgot it, and I wanted to know if anyone had ever succeded in remembering something they forgot through a lucid dream. I guess since this is a dreaming forum it was reasonable to assume that it happened in a dream, and I didn't really specify that much. I read that post and was like "WTF? Mine was in RL....oh." So sorry about all thatThis has happened twice to me - not whilst dreaming, but in real life.
