I have had 2 LDs by DILDing. I've done reality checks and I gained control(not for long though). I can not do it again for some reason . All the other methods do not work for me. I tell myself "I would know when Im dreaming" but I still don't do it even though weird things happen. How DO you do it the right way?(other than reality checking...)

Well, what do you mean "cant"?
If by "cant", you mean never realize that you're dreaming or do a RC, just wait it out. Until yesterday, i didn't have a DILD for at least 3 weeks.
Unless you mean that you realize you're dreaming or do a RC, but can't gain control. That's different, and I think more experienced LD'ers would have to explain how to fix that.
The best way to do it, is to keep the idea that you could be dreaming right now, in your mind as much as possible. Constantly watching for anything abnormal in the events around you. The trick is to question if your dreaming so often, that you will eventually do it in your dream.
I do a kind of meditation where I try to shut out all random thoughts, and try and stay aware of as many things at one time as possible, for as long as I can. And I question the reality of each thing that I'm aware of. This works really well for me.
I also do a lot of nose reality checks, mostly so that I will remember to do them when I find myself really wondering if I'm dreaming. Once in a while I will just do a random RC in a dream. But most of the time I notice something odd first, from keeping my mind alert.
I like to do short WBTB's also. Usually ten minute ones, sometimes a little longer. They help both with recall, and Lucidity. Because it wakes up your mind a little, so your more alert in the dream.
If you have any other questions PM me. I'll help out if I can.![]()
