Thread: Lucid driving

Sometimes I'll be in the driver's seat of a car going out of control, usually really, really fast! I try and clutch a steering wheel, but there is none. There are no brakes, either! At this point the car drives off a cliff or something and I wake up really sweaty and nauseas. DX

A scene such as this one spurred lucidity. I then used the invisible break peddle to stop the car.

i think it basicly depends on your minds view on driving. personly cars are like my life so wen i dream bout driving everyting is exactly like a real car (except i go alot faster ) but ya in my dreams i can do things that i cant do in a real car like for example sometimes ill get the rpm's to the redline and pop the clutch and ill like get perfect traction and just fly off the line but other that that its realy realistic

Yes, but I don't have to worry about hitting anything - I just go straight through it, i.e. a roadblock

I've only driven in a handful of lucid segments. In those, however, I just plowed right through traffic for the fun of it. I don't recall really thinking about the pedal actions though.

I've driven in plenty of non-lucid dream segments though and I usually drive somewhat like real life but the roads and conditions are usually different. No, I take that back. I've had some wild non-lucid driving excursions where I do things that no sane person would attempt in real life. I guess it all depends on the dream's context.

I have noticed in lucid dreams that different cars have different features like different noises in the engines, gear sticks in different places, different smells and other things. I have drove lots of cars in lucid dreams, it's my form of transport. But from now on it's mostly going to be flying i think.

My last failed RC was when I was driving my mom's boyfrieneds ford ranger manual, clutch/engine worked like normal, then I realized it had 7 forward gears (supposed to be 5) and became lucid.

I've driven my car several times in dreams, sometimes it works like normal. Once after I started it it revved to 6k RPM and threw a piston threw the hood and it hit a cop car (lmfao). I've seen some freakin AWESOME cars in dreams. I remember a 72 boat-tail Buick Riviera (my dream car... lol at the double meaning). 455 Big block with a wicked cam lope at idle, it had two chrome stacks strait off the headers that popped through the hood, with two demonic chrome dragon heads as tips (the detail on these was insane). Given the nature of the massive engine it would easily shoot flames out these, a very cool idea IMO. It had a disorientating red and black colour scheme and was scary as hell to drive. If I had the cash and the resources I'd love to bring this car to reality...
