      Reality affects dreams...

It's kind of odd how your life experiences change the course of your dreams...

When I was a kid, I'd have dreams that people were trying to kill me and I would always try to run from them...

After spending four years in the infantry, when I dream that someone is trying to kill me, I always end up fighting back and trying to kill them first...

It's actually not that odd if you keep in mind that your dreams are a product of your own mind. Our daily experiences and our past have a profound impact on what we dream about every night. Sometimes it's rather obvious to relate our dreams to something that happened to us during the day (or something that was on our minds); other times, however, it's not at all that clear. Our moods also set the tone of our dreams (if we are depressed or angry, we may face rather "dark" dreams; if we are excited or happy, our dreams may be instead rather cheery).

that doesnt explain about me lol

i never thought i'd be interested in dreams this much. anyway my dreams (unless they involve my friends, or if i am back at at school) have nothing to do with my life at all. i mean one school deram i had we god in a school bus, rode of the top of our school, and then the scenery changed to a junkeyard with a heavy metal band playing when i got out of the bus LOL! its pretty random, and that doesnt have anything to do with ,, well anything lol.

      Hello all
I am new to this site, but not new to lucid dreaming. I have been a lucid dreamer for about 15 yrs. now, and it continues to fascinate me the amount of our waking lives we bring into our dreams. For instance, I am scared of heights, and it carries over into my lucid dreams. I know I am dreaming, I know that I cannot really be hurt if I fall, and yet if I fly too high in a dream I get frightend. If there are any older folks here who remember the Charlie Brown cartoons, picture Woodstock flying in a broken dotted line, and if he flew too high he got a nosebleed
BUT, on the other end of the scale I am fascinated by what doesn't carry over. I am a VERY shy person, yet in my dreams I have no fear, I can just walk up to anyone and say OR do anything without being afraid.
I think the real question is what do we take from our dreams and put to use in our waking lives.

      Just my 2 cents

That's a very interesting point. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to take experiences from dreams and somehow incorporate them in some way into our daily lives, depending on the situation of course.
