Anyone else who hears voices just before you fall asleep?
Sometimes just before I doze off I hear people talking nonsense, almost as if I had a tv or radio stuck in my ears. Other times I hear loud noises that make me wake up with a jerk, almost like the falling sensation you get right before you go to sleep. I can never control what the voices say, but they never say anything meaningful. One time I wrote one of the sentences in my dreamjournal, and it was "Maybe we could bring her an egg or two"
- Total nonsense!![]()
I'm not a drug addict or schitzophrenic or anything, and I never hear voices otherwise.
I checked it up on the net and I found out it was called Hypnagogic hallucinations, realted to sleep paralysis and narcolepsy. I have neither!
So now I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced what I have, or if I'm just going insane?![]()

Everyone has sleep paralysis. It’s a natural part of the sleep cycle. Without it when you kick something in your dream you would move your waking body also.Originally posted by Janis

Personally, I find the Voices very annoying. Not so with the Images though. Sometimes I find the images very pleasing. I wonder if it depends on one's actual "frame' of mind just before sleep that will influence just which Sounds or Images we experience.ps. Anyone experienced that feeling of tripping over something whilst drifting off to sleep and one's heart "skips" a beat. Maybe the heart does skip a beat and one feels one has tripped over. Very Confusing. Also does this have anything to do with Clairaudience, Clairvoyance etc.

Yes, I have had these "semi-dreams" that occur when I'm really tired and go back to sleep. They are very short and usually conisist of me falling off a skatebord, getting a baseball thrown at my face, falling down, etc. These "dreamettes" always cause me to wake up with a start.
I've never heard the hypnagogic sound or seen the visuals. Hopefully I will when I really get into WILDs.

Yeah I get freaked out whever I hear the voices. It is a very disturbing feeling. They never make sense though. Its like just mumbling or many words put together to make nonsence sentance structures. Its hard to explain. Sometimes Ill hear music though. I hate the feeling of falling whenever Im trying to sleep. I think the worse was whenever I was waking up something black came running out of my closet and across the bed at me full force. it was a bit bigger than a human and hunched over. VERY TERRIFYING. I woke up though fully to see nothing was in the room with me.
WOW.
Is it real . . . is it a dream . . . is it real . . . is it a dream
you decide
I have heard sounds before but I have never or don't recall hearing voices. A friend of mine and fellow member of DV was telling me the other day that she was hearing music when she was falling asleep and people talking. They started talking to her because one of them said they knew she was listening to them! Unfortunately she could not remember what they were singing but she said it was awesome and nothing she had ever heard before! Weird!!!

Yeah sure, but I mean the sleep paralysis when you're concious but you can't move your body or anything. A friend of mine has that often, but she never hears or sees anything while in that state.Originally posted by dreamtamer007

I never freak out when I hear the voices, I find it rather amusing to listen to the strange conversations going on. Sometimes it's more like mumbling, and that is a bit annoying. I have that falling feeling almost every night, usually I see myseft tripping over a threshold or something like that. Other times I just hear a loud, unexplainable "bang!" noise and I wake up. There's also been times I've had a piano playing non-stop!Originally posted by Brendan86

Usually when I wake up in the morning after a very vivid dream, I can see bits of the dream hanging in the air infront of me even though I'm awake and with open eyes. Then they just fade. The most annoying thing is when I dream I have a huge chocholate cake in front of me, but when I'm just about to take the first bite, the cake fades away and I bite the air infront of me!![]()
I once were listening to a cd(bob marley) while in bed and after a while I noticed that the song playing were something I had never heard before and I found the song pretty annoying so I turned on the lights so I could stop the music, when I turned on the lights I realised that no music were playing.
The cd had only been playing in my mind.

Hi all.
Just wanted to add that I too often experience this. Sometimes I can make out words, but it's hard to catch because it happens when I'm falling asleep. I think it is one of those things like occasionally feeling like you are falling out of your bed when you are going to sleep.
It's a little startling and it sometimes causes me to jump awake.
I don't think it's anything to worry about unless you are hearing these voices when you are completely awake... That's a sign that you could be dillusional or schitzophrenic.![]()
I used to hear voices of my family members during WILD... They were fake and attempted to distract me from entering WILD... that was extremely annoying![]()
few weeks back I was laying in my bed and scanning my thoughts, trying to find the visualization channel... Well, i dont exactly remember what happened, but I "tuned into" a channel with some woman speaking and a baby crying... I listened to it for a while, trying to determine what it was..
True. I am one of the 90% or so of people that cant be hypnotized. That is why a lot of people can't do WILDS. It is very hard for some people to learn. MILD seems to be available to just about everyone. Sounds like your starting to experience a WILD. Try going with it. I can't tell you any more then that because all I hear and see is dam reality. WILD doesnt have to do anything with hypnosis. I'm hard to hypnotize, but I had numerous WILDs.
WILD is a natural transition from the waking to dream state. You did it countless times in your life, but wasnt aware of it...
Haha no I don't hear voices during the day, it would be kind of fun though!Originally posted by sypher7

Sounds like you're experiencing almost the exact same thing as me.
Yesterday I really tried to hear the voices, but the only thing I heard was clinking-sounds and a bird singing. Disappointing!
