*Wakes up and hits self on head repeatidly*

Ok, i'm asleep and dreaming, I wont explain the dream right now (nothin special, bit weird, like most dreams)

Towards the end of the dream I decided to go back to my old room where week keep the computer now, my comp wasnt there but my uncle was, as he started talking to me, I suddenly realised I must be in a lucid dream!!

I dont know what triggerd the thought but i imediatley got real exited(I know, I know, first rule = stay calm) then i crouched down an shouted 'I'M LUCID!!!' i'd closed my eyes an clenched my fists as i did this and when i opend my eyes, i was in my bed, perfecty awake and aware of the missed opportunity.

I didnt know weather to laught or what..

After giving it some though i'v decided i probably wasnt lucid, or i lost it milliseconds after I realised because thats not how i act, i can understand getting exited and waking up but not shouting like that, it just isnt me.

Is it possible that i had a dream about becoming lucid? If I was still dreaming why did I wake up? Is it because I really did think I was lucid? how many layers of thought/dream can a person have!!

I'm assuming this was your first LD.
I still think it was an LD, even if you were acting a little funny. Finding out that you've suddenly become 'alive' so to speak inside your mind can be a little bit of a culture shock.
I think that the reason you woke up is because you got too excited, even if you were trying not to be. My first LD was the same way.

ya dont get exited and if u were lucid dont chouch down,close your eyes, and yell! stay calm!
I heard from Nessgirl closing your eyes while in an LD is one of the worst things you can do in an LD while your begining ( experienced it myself a month ago) dont think of it as HOLYSHIT IM LUCID!!! but as: hey im lucid...no wories...its normal, ppl do this all the time... i know its hard and i almost got lucid 2 times but i got exited... it takes practice i guess...

It's not technically my first one. A few years back i realised I was in some school hallway or something and dreaming, i didnt like where i was so i threw myself at the ground to wake up. I'd never heard of lucid dreaming so didnt realise the missed oportunity

aside from you shouting that you are lucid, i would say the biggest sign that you actually WERE lucid is the fact that you woke up right away.

like this morning i got lucid and said O CRAP IM DREAMING! then woke up not 5 seconds later.

You should definitely laugh, and then be happy it happened. I've had a dream where everyone was dressed up in business attire, except every single person had the same green, blue, or purple hair. I went "I'm dreaming! ASTRAL PROJECT!" and I got too excited and I woke up.

I certainly think it's better to know that you did it, and could not hold on, rather than failing to do it. That itself is a giant step of progress. I think this holds for everything. It's better to know that you put the bat on the ball (albeit you made an out) rather than to strike out every at bat. It's a healthy appreciation all should share.
