Yes you were in a hypnagogic trance. That is very much on the right track, congratulations
You were indeed experiencing sleep paralysis in your right arm. That used to happen to me all the time- I'd get it in only my arms, or only my right hand and left leg...I'd have random parts of me in sleep paralysis and other parts not in it. But the thing about WILD is, there's no set way for it to happen.
It's different for everyone, and it's different on different times too. I for example rarely get SP when I WILD. I however almost always get hypnagogic imagery or "impressions". You were in a hypnagogic trance, that's why random little thoughts kept popping up. I know exactly what you meanBe careful though, because if you get lost in your thoughts, you will slip into non lucid sleep.
I have gotten to the point where when these little thoughts pop up, my subconscious reminds me not to forget that I'm trying to WILD. You want your consciousness to slow down, and shift, but not stop functioning at your will.
You are indeed on the right track. Keep it up, and you'll have a WILD in no time. The biggest thing is don't think too hard. Good luck! I hope this helps you.

So here it is.
So anyway, as I started to do this I suddenly began to slip in and out of very, very random thoughts that just came out of nowhere. Now during those thoughts I didn't count, and wasn't really lucid, I was just flowing with the thoughts. Almost like a dream, just without pictures if you know what I mean, it's just black, only your thoughts. They would last very short, and I slipped out to my own thoughts again thinking to myself "where the hell did those thoughts come from"
So I continued doing this, although increasing my concentration on the numbers I counted so I wouldn't slip into a dream without knowing. Then, all of the sudden I felt my right arm starting to "sink" and then it felt complety numb. And this is where the cool stuff(for me anyway) happened. When my arm go numb, it seriously felt like it was swingning slowly from the left to the right, left, right, left, right. And this must've been a start on an SP. Although the rest of my body weren't quite there yet, only my right arm. It felt like my arm were in the dream world while the rest of the body and myself where waiting to slowly fall in!
