B6 once in a great while seems to also create more vivid dreams. Sleeping pills do the opposite and knock me out cold.

I read Exploring the world of lucid dreaming by Stephen LaFarge (sp?) and I think he mentioned something about an ancient group using marijuana to help them attain lucidity. I've tried smoking some before going to bed and it seems to increase the vividness of my dreams and it eases my mind.
Has anyone ever experimented LDing with weed or any other substance?
I talked to some kid the other day who said he got a drug that could help him sleep (It was called Ceraquel or something). He said whenever he took it, within fifteen minutes he was immersed into an immense and vivid lucid dream. He said it worked every time he took the drug and it was amazing.
Not that I need drugs to Lucid dream, but I'm just curious to see if anyone has found lucid success with the aid of a substance.

Seroquel is an anti psychotic medication that does in fact have a hypnotic effect. I have never heard of marijuana having any effect on LD'ing. If you wish to learn about the effect substances have on lucid dreaming, I would suggest "Advanced Lucid Dreaming; The Power of Supplements" by Thomas Yuschak. I'm reading it now.

Yeah. If you want to get into supplements and their effect on dreaming you need this book.
lucid aids:

many substances are discussed in the lucid aid section.

It doesn't sound like you intended to try it, but i thought i'd warn you that seroquel can be very dangerous.
marijuana typically works by rebound. if you don't smoke a lot habitually, then you will likely get rebound half way into the night or near the morning. but if you smoke frequently, then your rem and/or awareness is suppressed nearly the entire night, so you usually have to quit for a day to get rebound from the previous night. unfortunately if you don't take breaks it can be a very big obstacle for many people.

I've seen a lot of threads and discussion on the effects of pot on LDs. Based on what I've seen it looks like too much pot trashes dream recall for most people, so if they did get lucid they forget about it. Most of the posts are about getting really stoned. I'm not sure what effect light pot use might have.

I have a friend who is on anti-depressants and he unintentionally has a lucid dream every night. He didn't even know what one was until I explained to him. I can look in to it for you.. although I don't recommend you start taking anti-depressants to have better dreams![]()
i bought some calea zacatechichi, and have yet to obtain lucidity, but have had some very vivid and obscure dreams after smoking it.
Yeah, gotta agree with seeker28, pot destroys recall. I can average about 2-3 pages (single spaced) of recall per night with no weed in my system, but if I'm stoned the day/evening before, I'm lucky if I get half a page. Which is rather frustrating, since I from the bits that I can recall, my dreams after having weed are pretty intense.
When I smoked weed I would get lucid 90% of the time
also when I get drunk I get lucid pretty easy too.
In very many cases, the visionary quality, the quality of the vision so to say, spills over, into the external world, so that the experiencer, when he opens his eyes, sees the outer world transfigured...

WEll I used to smoke weed and to behonest it must have been WAY too much weed cause 90% of the time I didn't remember jack sh*t. though when I occasionally drink I always have very vivid dreams that I tend to remember very well. Now I have never actually become lucid while drinking, I always just end up trashed in the dream and do really stupid sh*t. I have tried salvia and that experience was very VERY much like a dream, as it will pretty much shut you down and throw you right into a dream state. though without an open mind it can be extremely scary, due to the fact that your fully concious and then you just get slammed into this dream world. If I had to guess which "supplement" would increase chances of lucidity I would take some Magic mushrooms before bed and see what happens!
Ive been smoking pot for the past good 10 years now.
Ive found that smoking weed in moderation is the best bet.
Smoking weed helps re-leave stress and i've found its much much easier to lucid dream when your not stressed out.
I know for a fact however that going to sleep while stoned or high will decrease your chances of lucid dreaming, or remembering them.
Smoke a little bit of weed a good hour or 2 before you go to sleep. See how that works for you.
Edit:: i can also personally can say that drinking some will help lucid dreaming.
When ever i get drunk, really drunk, lucid dreams happen very easly. But i wouldn't recommend that, drink in moderation and see if it helps you any. Just don't abuse the drugs. Doing too much of either is only going to hurt your ability to lucid dream. Also remember.

a threshold dose of datura seems to increase dream vividness and awareness
Datura???? Are you kidding me? Why would you suggest something potentially fatal (and if you've been paying attention to the media has been fatal) as a means to increase lucidity.
Due to the potent combination of anticholinergic substances it contains, Datura intoxication typically produces effects similar to that of an anticholinergic delirium: a complete inability to differentiate reality from fantasy (frank delirium, as contrasted to hallucination); hyperthermia; tachycardia; bizarre, and possibly violent behavior; and severe mydriasis with resultant painful photophobia that can last several days. Pronounced amnesia is another commonly reported effect.
According to the drug information site Erowid, no other substance has received as many "Train Wreck" severely negative experience reports as has Datura[3], noting that "the overwhelming majority of those who describe to us their use of Datura (and to a lesser extent, Belladonna, Brugmansia and Brunfelsia) find their experiences extremely mentally and physically unpleasant and not infrequently physically dangerous."
I really wish people would think before they start posting whatever pops into their mind as suggestions. This stuff kills people!! THINK!!
