Not all reality checks work for everyone... What works for someone might not work for the next person.
That's why it's a good idea to do more than one type just to make sure. There are many to choose from. You will find one that works for you.
I was napping and had a very short LD woke up, tried the breathe through nose RC and I could breathe through it...but I thought I definetly didn't pinch it right, so I tried again and again, everytime thinking that my nose isn't pinched properly. So I gave up and nothing.
My mind tricked into thinking that I didn't do it right.
I thought that this could never fail...

Yeah, but I used this one in all of my LD's it never failed me until now.
Well the breathe through nose RC works fine with me (when i remember to do it) and hasn't failed me yet.
In a way it didn't fall, but in another way it did. You pinched your nose and could breath through it, so it worked. But because you thought you didn't pinch it properly, it failed. I've also experienced that sometimes. Like nsquared said, it's good to have different reality checks. If you feel that you can't pinch your nose properly, take a look at your watch or something else. Or just pinch your nose really well so that you can't be tricked.
Besides, it's not so serious if your favourite reality check that works always suddenly doesn't work in one dream. It'll still work the most of the time![]()
