Can I open my eyes during a WILD attempt?

My last real WILD attempt sent me through multiple cycles of vibrations, hypnogogic lights, and feelings of fallings. I'm not sure if I succeeded or not because I kept my eyes closed and were aware that they were closed. I might have had a lucid dream, but never opened my eyes for it.

I was afraid that if I opened my eyes long enough to do a reality check it would kill all the work that I did and put me back at square one. Is it possible to open your eyes, look at your hands, then go back under?

As soon as you move, your body will know that your not sleeping and you will probably fail the WILD. The dream imagery should form even with your eyes closed (on the inside of your eyelids maybe), so it might not even be necessary to open your dream eyes. Once your in a dream however, refrain from trying to physically move, just think it and it will happen .

It could very well be that your dreaming and have your eyes closed. Try opening your eyes a few minutes after the vibrations and do a reality check. I bet your dreaming.

Well, I had lots of vibrations once and a couple minutes later I still wasn't dreaming... So just be careful, you can kind of tell if your in a dream by the "Switch".

Why not try the blocking throat reality check? I find it a lifesaver for wild as it doesn't matter if you're in SP or not. Also, means you don't have to move.

It's hard to describe but basically you sort of contract your throat muscles then breathe in... so you aren't getting any air in. I think of it as what would happen to a fish out of water...

      It works for me

Opening your eyes while trying to WILD defeats the purpose you will know you when you are in a dream.
