I've notice that when I roll my eyes back slightly when meditating that my state of conciousness changes.
Am I unknowingly messing with this chakra?
Did any of you ever used the CILD(chakra) method.
It works by focusing on your third eye chakra while you are going to sleep again after waking up after several hours(much like WILD or MILD) and imagining you have a lucid dream and just thinking about your purposes(like MILD)
I did it last night and it worked for me, I dont know mabey I just had a MILD because it looks very alike, anybody ever tried this?

Well i believe chackra's are the best examples about the placebo effect. Concentrate on any part of your body and believe that a chackra exists there. Close your eyes and wait.
This is nothing but fooling your mind!
But if it works, it works.
Anyway our subconcious mind fools us when we are dreaming. We realize we are dreaming by seeing something stupid. And realizing we are in a dream. So why not fool the subconcious or concious mind with chackras?

That's allright, I am OK. This happens every single day. It's all the same but i am not blind!
What makes you so sure chakra's do not exist, mabey they do,or mabey they don't,who knows,I think they do exist, but I gues thats my opinionOriginally posted by Birm

Its a matter of faith, the idea of the chakras is old... very old... so it may have some truth to it.

Well some of you may have read when I said I try chakra once in awhile..sometimes with WILD attempts. I also just posted a new topic on meditation, which is another time in which I focus on my chakra. I find that it's definitely more than some placebo effect...because I actually notice its effects as they happen, rather than just suddenly falling into a state without really being able to credit it to my chakra. It's difficult to explain, especially since I've only experience a small amount of what is undoubtedly possible...but it's definitely like a completely different perspective.
I am not sure about anything. But you can attain lucidity without chackras. You dont need to know about them, you dont need to know anything such as 'energy body'. You dont need to utilize energy to attain lucidity at all. These are the things that sound 'interesting'. People will pay for something unknown, something mysterious, something invisible. Chackras are something unknown, something mysterious, something invisible. You just fool yourself by believing in them. What makes you so sure chakra's do not exist, mabey they do,or mabey they don't,who knows,I think they do exist, but I gues thats my opinion[/b]
But thats my idea, i respect to your ideas for sure.
Thats true the idea is old. But these ideas are old too:Its a matter of faith, the idea of the chakras is old... very old... so it may have some truth to it.[/b]

Those have been proven as falacies... The salem incident was messed up, but there are witches about.
Chakras on the other hand, have yet to be disproven![]()

My point is: You dont need chackras for attaining lucidity. If they are real or not. You dont need to relate everything to chackras.
Attaining lucidity is simple as is. You have to realize you are dreaming. We dont do reality checks in our everyday lives. For example i woke up at 7:00 am today and got a bus to go to work. Now i am at work and i just dont remember the details about the bus trip. I remember i got on the bus and i remember i got off the bus. Dreams are just like this. You find yourself in a dream and when dream ends you just dont remember the details because they are not important for you. Zen (a Japanese religion)suggests to be aware of everything at anytime. At this point Zen Meditation may help you attain lucidity. But chackra work has nothing to do with lucidity.
Thats my idea anyway.

You dont NEED it, but it can be usefull anyway, you dont need RC's or any other techniqes either(MILD,WILD),i had lucid dreams were I didnt use anything at all,but its alot harder and the chances are slim to none unless your a natural

"...all life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real
things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other. " H. P. Lovecraft

I don't use any techniques what-so-ever but I lucid dream all the time..
Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
well gee, arent you SPECIAL
It's true that you don't eed Chakras to have a lucid dream, but I also believe they exist. It's like everything else, it's fine to be a skeptic about them, but once you experience them then you know that they exists. It seems that many branches of mysticism derived their existence independently.
For those who don't want to believe in the spiritual stuff:
Some think that the "third eye" is actually the pineal gland. The pineal gland sits right between the two hemispheres of your brain and secretes melatonin. How this could affect becoming lucid and such I'm not really sure, but it seems something that at least deserves some research. =)

what the piss is a chakra? Anyone wanna get me up to speed on this one. How do you "find" them? I'm willing to try anything at least once.
Actually the 'Third Eye' is a metaphysical concept of gaining spiritual sight. When you gain spiritual sight it is said that your 'Third Eye' opens. This only happens when the electromagnetic fields cross over that emanate from your pineal and pituitary glands. To increase the sphere of radiation of these electromagnetic fields requires plenty of regular meditation for starters though there are shortcut methods.
Also I am looking into meditating on the muladhara chakra instead of the ajna chakra for lucids.

Why? Why the root chakra?
"do what you wish"
It doesn't talk about that. The dream yoga process involves focusing on a red ball of light at the throat chakra, carrying the ball to the third eye center, and them picturing the ball of light as a white moon with the Tibetan "AUM" in the center.
"do what you wish"
I'm thinking 'Beyond Dreaming' would be a more appropriate place to discuss chakras.

I completely understand the validity of your point but I would disagree with that from my point of view as chakras are as real as the piece of toast I'm eating right now. Just because science refuses to accept their existence it doesn't mean that they don't exist. This could be argued about all day long. The thread has been here now for six years and one day and it seems to have a happy home so far.
