      Dreamsign Incubation Experiment

      Hi Folks:

I’m setting up a new experiment involving dreamsign incubation, and YOU are cordially invited to participate. Basically, this means concentrating on a target image -- for example an elephant -- during the day and while falling asleep. The image should be coupled with a suggestion: “I’m dreaming!” or “This is a dream!” or “Whenever I see an elephant, I realize I’m dreaming!” (The reason for the elephant is because elephants NEVER forget...)

QUESTION ONE: Does anyone have prior experience with this method, if so what advice can you give?

QUESTION TWO: What I intend to do is download lots of photos of elephants from the Internet and make them into a slideshow to play at bedtime and WBTB. What I want to do is display a prominent caption on each photo, such as “I’m dreaming!” or “This is a dream!” Does anybody know how to do this? Is it possible using Picasa or any other free slideshow software?

answer to question 2: use powerpoint, and make every slide a title slide. then, in the place for the title put the caption and in the place of the subtitel put the picture.

      hope that solves your problem.

      Am I crazy?

Thanks Skuruza. However, I just found out THERE'S AN EVEN SIMPLER WAY. Here's how you can put ANY SIZE CAPTION anywhere on a photo:

      1) Open Microsoft Paint.

      2) Open the photo you want to caption. (File/Open)

      3) Go to Help/Index then go down the keywords to "text" and follow the instructions (or enter "text" in the dialog box). All you do is create a box on the photo and enter or paste the text you want to insert. It's that easy !!!

maybe it isn't worth it for most people... but what if you just stared at an object for several hours, or did something very memorable for several hours... then thought about it the rest of the day.

that's bound to work, granted with some degree of effort

I'm gonna go immerse my senses in an orange or somehting for the next few hours...
I'll post tomorrow if it works.

Hi, I don't mean to quash Ur idea but I did try this with a success rate of being able to incubate 5 different dreamsigns at will but not at the same time. The incubation part is quite easy for me at least but it's the 'tagging' of the dreamsign to the action of doing reality checks that is a headache for me at least. I'm not saying it's impossible just that U need to find a dreamsign that is appropriate like Ur elephant but a normal elephant would need U to put a forced message like 'I'm dreaming which did not originally link with elephant...BUT if U use a FLYING ELEPHANT like Dumbo...now that's IMO linked to dreams and dreaming because IRL elephants can't fly so there would be a higher chance and easier also to 'tag' the idea that U are dreaming and do a reality check. So far I think the best dreamsign I used is my watch. Got me a lucid this morning so I'm thankfull for it.

Now to answer Q1; From experience, to succesfully incubate a dreamsign, U need emotional attachment and desire toward that whatever U want to use. And secondly it would be handy to have more than one dreamsign since our emotion or mood toward that dreamsign changes, mine does alot....:p being an emotional person. Also DON"T TRY UR ASS OFF or it won't work. Just take it easy...keep the focus light but focused thinking on that whatever U want to use...that's where the emotion & desire stuff comes in it's easier if there is an attachment to emotion & desire rather than logic that I must see the dreamsign. And although it may sound funny...only try to induce it when Ur about to sleep lying on Ur bed.

About Q2; For me if I see too many of the intended dreamsign to use..it gets worn out meaning I get bored of it which is bad. So from experience the best time to "introduce" the dreamsign is just or near to bedtime...some relaxing music does help or any music U like or even better music that U think links to the dreamsign while U review the pics. Also when U look at the pics...emotion and desire. U need to feel them connecting U and the picture, not just a picture.... After sometime the dreamsign will be embedded in Ur subconcious depending on how much emotion & desire there is for it so U won't need to look at the actual picture maybe just occasionally before bedtime. Hope this helped.

Is there anyone who has successfully incubated anything into their dreams?

I figured that Reality checks done often enough will eventaully become "dream material" if done often enough. The power of Repetition.

However I have only gotten myself to do RC's in Dreams at Random and mostly in the first 6 months or so after having fully read up on Lucid Dreaming Techniques.

I do ALOT of RCs throughout bthe day and they've become fully integrated into my waking life. I'm also having a Dryspell now.

But the RCs IMO are more likely to become incubated due to the fact that you can do an RC anytime and anywhere.

Let me know if your Image+ RC-association method works for you or anyone else. I've been interrested in this for a while now. Perhaps you could make a Roadsign that sais: "RC!" If you could incubate those into your dreams it would become much easier to pick up on lucidity than perhaps an elephant. Even a flying pink one: The Dreamself is Soooo naïve most of the time and it would be desirable to just tell your dreaming self to RC.

i have incubated stuff into my dreams before it got me lucid too. heres what i tried to incubate

i was trying to incubate a whole dream. It would start out with me at work doing nothing in paticular. You are supposed to be specific when incubating so i imagined that there would be almost no customers in the place. A friend of mine was supposed to come up and ask me about reality checks. Then he was supposed to ask me to do the nose rc. I would become lucid and shake his hand and run out the front door so i can go and have fun

      heres what I dreamed

i was standing in that exact place where i wanted to when i tried to incubate it. There was almost nobody in the whole place. I saw my friend sitting in a chair really close to me, but i also saw him walking around in the back part of the building. I guess i was seeing 2 of him. This made me do the nose rc and become lucid

so its not exactly the same as I incubated, but i was in the same place, there wasnt very many people there just like i incubated, it was the same rc, and the same person inspired the rc. He didnt come up and ask me teh question, but it came too close just to be couincedence <---(rotten spelling)

      anyway how i did it

oops sorry i guess i didnt complete it! lol

How i did it was easy. Before i went to bed i would lie there and imagine the dream with all the detail i could fit in my head. Who was sitting/standing where, if the window was open, where i was standing etc. i would repete that dream over and over with the exact same details till i fell asleep. Then wala! i ended up dreaming my wanted dream

i figure it would work alot better with wbtb if you want to try it. and make sure to put in lots of details. It took alot of concentration for me to do it so i dont plan on doing it again.

alright i think i finished this time lol
