I would also like to know what people think about that.
I goto sleep quite late also, on average around 12 midnight.
I've heard going to bed exhusted may cause less vivid dreams
I just broke a week long lucid dreaming drought last night. This whole past week I've been going to sleep quite late. Last night I went to sleep early for a change, and my dreams were more vivid, and I became lucid quite suddenly, without anything being out of the norm, and without doing a RC.
I was wondering how other peoples sleep cycles affected thier ability to become lucid, and if other people notice this same pattern. I've heard other people mention going to sleep late to fall asleep quicker, but Im questioning if there is any value to that at all.

That seems right according to this week. Throughout the week I remembered plenty of dreams and this weekend if stayed up really late and recalled exactly 0 dreamshopefully my wbtb right now is going to fix that though.

The key for me seems to be getting into prolonged REM while it is still dark outside. I guess the dawn, with all of it's noises like people driving down the road, birds chirping, dog and so on disturb my sleep.
That said, it is best for me anyway to get in bed around 10:30 or so, that way, my most active REM period starts at about 4:30 am which gives me about 2 hours or so.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

I definately love to have my long REM in the dark. When I do the WBTB I like to wake in total darkness and fall back asleep in total darkness. It helps a lot. And with my little victory last night, Im gonna keep going to sleep early.

interesting. you see...lately i've been going to sleep so late nowadays and now my sleep pattens are screwy. last night i went to bed around 4, but i got in bed around 2:30. and when i did the WBTB..it was always light outside, so i didn't really get much success either..-_-
im pulling an all-nighter today and planning to sleep early tomorrow, so i'll post if i notice anything dream-related.

That's interesting.. hey gameover, I think I remember you saying that you wake up pretty late, like 2 PM. At least I think that was you. Anyway, do you still wake up that late when you go to bed earlier?
Because I'm thinking, if you go to bed at 2 AM and sleep for say 10 hours and wake up at noon.. then go to bed at 12AM and sleep for 10 hours as well, how could that make a difference if you're getting the same amount of sleep?

REM periods while it's dark work very well. If it's a morning WBTB after sunrise I'll usually pull my curtains to get it to be dark again.
Edit: Seeker seems to agree.

Getting more sleep makes my dreams more vivid, but not drastically.
Hey i should try that! It's just that i have trouble falling asleep
If practice makes perfect and nobody is perfect then why practice?
Yeah, I have the same problem...Originally posted by Kitti

It's weird because I have had lapses, say a week or so, in between LD's. But I actually still have very vivid dreams. (All night long it seems.) For the past month I've been remembering 2-4 every morning. I actually don't feel rested when I wake up and I've slept for 8 hours. I do notice that when I don't stress too much about LD's, I have them more consistently.![]()
Ask and you shall know.
I think that's key right there, not stressing.I do notice that when I don't stress too much about LD's, I have them more consistently[/b]Good for you. Instead of trying to force them to happen, letting them come at their own pace is the way to go I think.
Right.
You are more prone to fall asleep if you are.
1. Tired.
2. Not thinking about falling asleep. (Try radio/music)
The less I stress the more my lucid dreams come. I had a week straight with no lucid dreams, and every day waking up and getting upset about it. Then I just chilled out and stopped worrying and they came back.

alright, here to post my results after doing the all-nighter
I stayed up for over 20+(dont know the exact amount). I also took a 3 hour nap during that time(i got unbearably tired during the day). I went to bed at 11:30, when before i went sleep at around 3 or 4. woke up at 5 do to the WBTB stayed up for only a half hour due to complete boredom(nothing on tv) and the sun was rising and i wanted to get to bed before the sun was up.
anyway i woke up at 2(i kept waking up before that, but i wanted lots of sleep) So my dream recall went through the roof. remembered about 5 dreams that whole night. I also had a lucid dream.
so there's my reportslept for about 14 hours, 1 lucid dream about 4 or 5 dreams in total. take it as you will.
