ya im interested in the same question. I can remember my dreams but whats the best way to become lucid for starters?
I've read all the tutorials on MILD, WILD, FILD, all of it. I went to bed last night at midnight, I woke up at 3:30 and went back to bed at 4:00 doing FILD, the problem was that I fell asleep and I didn't even remember the dream I had. What I want to know is what's best for people who have never been lucid before, I've seen some kind of weird stuff in my dreams before, but they don't seem to make me question if it's a dream.

98% of all teens have petted a cat, If you like your waffles fried on the grill put this in your sig.
Well, I'm still a starter (mainly becouse I don't really sleep myself out normally...), but good advice is to write dream journal, and always try to remember your dreams, and always sleep like 8 hours, so you won't be dead tired.
I used MILD for remembering my dreams, but I really was trying doing DILD for LD, becouse at that time I could recall like 2-3 dreams without awakening in middle of night to write it down.
So after like 2-3 weeks of trying nothing, so I had a bit of pause, and then the LD just simply came from nowhere
So in the end to actually give advice: It depends on you, so you should try many of these techniques, maybe you are an exelent WILD-er ^^ but of course you might have school, or work, or just don't feel so. But you can always do a DILD, it doesn't takes anything. And also if you are trying to LD for like 3-4 weeks, try to have a week brake, it worked for many ppl.
But never doubt your abilites, LD-ing in the beggining is very hard (I know becouse I'm also a begginer)
I've been trying MILD along with FILD for the last 2 nights and nothing happened. Do you have any advice on how to wake up after 5 hours? I set my alarm clock but I think I might forget any dreams I had prior to that because of it.
Don't get discouraged if nothing happens the first couple of nights. It took me a few weeks to get my first LD.
You could try drinking a lot of water before bed, leaving a TV/light on, or maybe find an alarm that isn't so loud.

My alarm has 2 settings, but I'm afraid if I put it on the quiet one it wouldn't wake me up and I wouldn't be able to get up at 6 and I'd be late.
Keep at it. My first LD came after a few weeks of neglect. Right now I'm trying to increase my dream recall. Definately keep a dream journal and I read somewhere that stress or having a lot of things on your mind decreases dream recall or LDing so keep that in mind I guess. I have been having a hard time recalling the past week, but then again I have had a whole lot to worry about with school and college apps.
Good luck.

First off, start a dream journal. Whether or not your dream recall is good, a dream journal will help you identify your most common/recurring dream signs. A dream sign is something that is so blatantly unreal, you must be dreaming. Next, do reality checks throughout the day.
-try to breathe through a plugged nose, if you can you're dreaming
-jump up and down, see if you can float, or see if gravity is distorted
-read some text twice, if it's different the second time, you're dreaming
-look at your cell phone, if there's something very strange about it, you're dreaming
Using these methods, you will eventually experience a Dream Induced Lucid Dream or, DILD.
I started a dream journal last night, and I think it worked, I remembered my first dream in a while, I think it was become I was thinking about dreaming as I fell asleep, and I woke up 3 hours into my sleep to try WBTB. I didn't think about looking at my cell phone, thanks.
i didnt really read everything thoroughly, but try my verson of fild, i think it will give you a higher chance of sucess.
Am I crazy?
When I read about FILD it just said to do the finger movements when you felt yourself slipping away, and then try a RC after 1-5 min., is there more to it than that?
read my thread, "My FILD"
Am I crazy?
The best method varies from person to person, there is probably no "ultimate" method that is guaranteed to work all the time with any person.
Ninjas killed my family, need money for kung-fu lessons
The easiest is definitely a dream journal followed by reality checks. Good solid natural LD's will soon follow, this is how I started and its only now I am figuring out how to go into all the induced LD's
You need to learn how to crawl before you can walk right?

Although I (and many others) might call it cheating or ULDimng (Unnatural LDing) as a last resort, you could try LD pills. I've heard they work but I wouldn't try them myself.

For me, there is only one way I'm nearly guarenteed to have at least one lucid dream, I wouldn't say its the easiest thing, but its the only way I can for sure have a lucid that night. First I have to not eat anything all day besides a little fruit to keep my blood sugar up, plus make sure to drink 64oz of water throughout the day, but not within 3 hours of going to bed. Then I have to do at least 20 minutes of some one pointedness meditation, where I just stare at a small ball and repeat a mantra. Then I use WBTB 5 hours after falling asleep, and do some more one pointedness meditation for just a minute and go right back to sleep, sometimes used FILD if I feel I am tired enough to pull it off. If I do all that, then I have really good odds of having at least one decent lucid.
