      False Awakenings..

I am having problems with false awakenings. I had 2 lucid dreams in the past 3 days as a result of opening my eyes in bed after a wbtb and realizing I am dreaming. While this is all good and dandy, this past night I tried again and ended up getting a very small amount of sleep because I was expecting a FA every time I opened my eyes in bed and ended up staying up forever. On the flip side I did end up having my first DILD, but I guess I am just concerned over when I should try to test for a FA... like is there a feeling (I think I remember not being tired and the room being a little brighter) because I cannot spend hours opening my eyes at night thinking its a FA or I wont get sleep for my classes!

A good rule of thumb is, when you wake up, do a RC. If you're in real life, you could probably get to sleep instantly. If its a dream, then go have fun.

I dont think you are understanding my post... I know to do the RC but my problem is I am becoming obsessed with them so every time I am laying in bed I tend to check to see if im dreaming and I am losing a lot of sleep. Are there any better ways to know if it is a FA so I dont waste my sleep doing RCs every few minutes?

      Oh... I understand now.

Well, it seems you are stuck. But a good indicator would be if your room is lighted.

Doing a RC, lets say a nose plug RC takes like 5 seconds to do...

If you keep waking up at night then just do a nose RC with your eyes closed and drift back to sleep or have fun in your dream. It won't affect your ability to go back to sleep...
