for me SP usely starts at my feet and travels up. BUT the bright light from the window will not help.
Okay. Here's the deal. The closest I come to lucidity starts like this:
Middle of the day (there's ALWAYS an open window shining light on me, if that makes any difference) and I'm laying down to take a nap. Somehow (the last time it was because I heard a dryer going LOUDLY and realized that I shouldn't since the dryer is all the way downstairs) my face gets really tight and my teeth clench, grind, feel like they're drawing blood (but they're not).
This evolves into my torso and arms going into SP. Last time I just saw images, which was cool, but this time I wanted to walk. So I tried to open my dream eyes--big mistake. I opened my real eyes. I closed them immediately and went back into the weird state. I tried sitting my dream self up, with eyes closed, and did it!! Then I tried getting up and couldn't!!
I think the reason for this is because I can't seem to get SP in my legs. Any techniques on how to do this? Am I really even going into SP? Please, help.

Well, the window light isn't bright. The thing is, I can't ever seem to get this sort of feeling during the day without my window. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm not sure.

Intresting thats very strange
kcat220, maybe the reason you are able to get into SP with your window open and the light shining on you is because it causes you to sleep "lighter".
As for your lower body getting stuck.. try rolling to your left or right until you're off the bed.. or try feeling yourself sink through your bed until you hit the floor.. or try picturing the wall in your room with you standing next to it and feeling its texture (if you concentrate on this deeply enough you may be able to project yourself there).
