mmmm, can you please be more detailed? so I can help you ? =)

Yes, as the title says, I have no problem realizing that I am dreaming, it's just attaining lucidity. Either the dream fades to black or I guess I "decide that I'm too scared", or something. Anyone have any advice?

Well for one, if you realize that you're dreaming, then you already are Lucid. But I think what you mean is that after your get Lucid, the dream fades away. Does that sound right?

Ah, gotcha.Read the Dream Stabilization and Vividness Tutorial. It has tips that can help you if you wake prematurely. It also gives a lot of advice on how to stay Lucid.

Yes, I already have. I've read most of the materials on this site, it's just that the darkness is so abrupt it's like I'm not even in a dream anymore. And I guess saying the other case as "forgetting I was lucid", is incorrect. I kind of get scared and don't want to know it's a dream, if that makes sense. I apologize for inaccurately explaining it.

but, are you completely lucid then?
mmm
it's a bit hard.
did you try making all clear? I imagine that yes.
what is your fear?

You've read the materials, but have you actually tried the tips? From what you've told me, it seems like DEILD would be most effective for you to get back in the dream. As for you being afraid, you're going to have to work on that yourself. You have to tell yourself that it's just a dream and that it's nothing to be scared of.

try to understand what you are afraid of, that's a very internal part of you, and I don't know if I can help you with something like that.
everybody is different
everybody have different fears
everybody overcome fears in different ways
bye! good luck!

I wonder if its fear of not waking up. Anyway, why not try to visualize something or re-open your eyes when in the darkness? If you don't need to wake up, that should be enough for a new dream to form.
Check out my journal, Tales of the Inheritor.

Yes, everything must be googled, after all it's top secret.
I've got an idea. Why don't you make a step by step procedure to do whenever you realize you are dreaming. Practice it in the daytime, and each time you practice in the daytime tell yourself you have nothing to fear.
It could go something like this:
1. Take a moment and calm down, trying to suppress excitement and or fear.
2. Tell yourself, "this is a dream, and I will do it no matter how much I fear it"
3. Stabalize. (I do not recommend dream spinning. Instead, just feel everything in site. rub your hands of whatever texture you can find to keep your mind occupied with dream senses.
Make sure to keep it fast. A long series of steps could cause you to become distracted and lose lucidity.

I will occasionally have that darkness too, at least whenever I'm trying to DILD. When I'm in it, I'll know I'm trying to fall asleep. I won't be fully conscious, but enough to know where I am and not be able to fall into a dream again. To me it seems....hmm...how to describe it....fuzzy. That's all I can really think of.
All I can recommend is open your eyes. It will refresh your consciousness and not leave you fuzzy. Also, it could turn out that the blackness was really a dream. That happened to me once. I decided to open my eyes, then RCed and realized I was dreaming.
