Lucid Dream Device

Due to several inquiries about my device, I have re-written this post...

Description
The name of my product is the Lucid Dream Device T2 (LDD-T2). I have designed this device using a Timex watch with 9 interval timers, a pair of LEDs, and goggles. Each interval of the timer is set for a cycle of REM sleep that we experience throughout the night (hh:mm): 1:30, 1:40, 1:40, 1:20, 0:50, 1:00, 1:00, 1:00, 1:00 (I have also included the time spent in REM for the time sequence as well). Once you push start, simply put the goggles on and go to sleep. They are very comfortable to wear, as I have added thick suede leather pads to the eyes. The alarm has been bi-passed; the LEDs have been added into the circuitry of the watch. When the first timer goes off, the LEDs will blink as if the lights were the sound of the alarm. The pattern is as follows: blink-blink-blink, blink-blink-blink, blink-blink-blink. Then the 2nd timer begins. This continues throughout the entire night. I have not had this device long enough to conduct a study of any statistical successes / failures, but I have had several successful experiences with my device so far, and continue to use it every night. I will continue to log my personal use of the LDD-T2, which is available upon request.

Cost
The biggest setback for the cost of the device is the Timex watch (retails at Wal-Mart for right around $45 after tax). The goggles were Speedo brand (retails at Sports Authority for right around $15 after tax). As you can see, the device is already at $60 and the price of super glue, bottle caps, circuit board, electronic wire, sheet of suede leather, elastic strap, black gloss paint, my time, AND SHIPPING CHARGES have not been included. I will estimate $10 for additional parts, and $15 for shipping AND confirmation. The first one I made took about 6 hours. I would like to make $20 per device (that is only $3.33 per hour). Total cost for this device is $105.

I will accept cash or money order ONLY, prior to building any device. I am not selling these to make money, but only to help those that do not have the skills necessary to build the device themselves. Directions are available for free online, and that was always my intent. I am not interested in the risks that are involved when trying to start a business. For reliability purposes, I will also send out a disclaimer prior to accepting any payment, which will further explain the terms and agreements of using my product. No returns will be accepted, unless of course the functionality of the electronics is at fault, in which case the device will be repaired and reshipped.

I've been in contact with Bitter Season on this.

We all agree, it is best if you can learn to have lucid dreams at will without relying on any type of electronic induction device. However, sometimes a little help is needed.

BitterSeason has come up with a really creative method of modifying an existing product to do this.

He has come here to share his knowledge with us and to offer a complete solution (for a fee of course) to those that feel they might not have the skills needed to create this device.

He is sorry for posting in multiple places. Use this thread to continue the dialog.

For free of course! In fact, as I have posted in other places, you can contact me on yahoo messenger (same name) and I will webcam my device to SHOW you how to build this thing. My only request for $$ is if I spend my time to build somebody one... I don't work for free, as I'm sure everyone can relate. I will be out of town (actually out of the country) for the next 3 weeks, so I won't be around for a while, unless I happen to hop on a computer somewhere.

As far as the infrared device, I already have a plan for that. The problem is keeping it small enough to wear comfortably. I am skeptical about the infrared anyway. I like the idea of timers. I think if you can regulate a routine for sleeping, you will keep about the same cycles. Everytime I wake up and look at the timer, it is always about the same spot. Anyway, the more ideas you guys can post here, the better I can design the circuit. My choice method is to use existing devices (such as the timex watch, and maybe gut an optical mouse for some infrared). Why re-invent the wheel?

Creative is right.

I watched the video on this device and the device looks much more comfortable to wear than the NovaDreamer that I have, and for the small fee that BitterSeason is asking for labor ($3.33 an hour) I would rather just buy one rather than go thru the hastle of trying to assemble one myself. However I already have a NovaDreamer that I bought a few years ago for much cheaper than they are now.

The difference between this device and the NovaDream that I can see is that the NovaDreamer is activated automatically by rapid eye movement, at least that is supposed to be the way it works (I think mine is retarded, as it just activates all the time, making it worthless), while the T2 device BitterSeason has assembled activates at whatever time it is set to on the timers.

It can be valuable in that it could make someone more aware during the night by partially waking them up periodically during the night, much like having alarms set to go off every 1 1/2 hours during the night.

If you view the video you will see that BitterSeason is quite a creative genius who can contribute a lot to the site.

If you would prefer to try and build this device yourself BitterSeason will give you instructions on how to build one of these yourself for probably the 5th of the cost of a NovaDreamer.

It's not every day one runs into a creative genius like BitterSeason. He is probably one of tomorrows Bill Gates.

the truth is, seeker, BitterSeason, dougdrums, and i are probibly the genious people you talk about... or at least., the only people who posted in that long thread...
