      Thumbs up

Basically. I can't really get to sleep unless I let my mind wander completely. All the techniques involve focussing on something as I go to sleep, and I stay awake for ages this way. Are there any techniques where I don't have to worry about my mind wandering?

I'm the exact same way. I have to think about really silly stuff to be able to fall asleep.

I think you just need to try focussing harder, try some MILD techniques that require focus. Or you can try the FILD tech.

I too cant concentrate on one thing, or I can literally stay awake for Days. BUT - I did have a WILD and this is all I did differently -

When i got to the point where your supposed to empty your mind and concentrate passively on the lights in your shut eye lids, I did the opposite (sort of) and I imagined myself swimming through hoops made of water as if I had no spinal cord. It worked well and I was having some fun, it kept me from getting too bored, and the next thing i knew there was a bright flash of light and i was Lucid Dreaming. Do keep in mind though i cant exactly remember what my mindset was up to the point where the bright flash of light came, because its as if i blacked out... but the point is your mind doesnt need to be completely empty, or concentrating for WILD to work.

I have this problem, too, it sucks. People don't realize the "seriousness" of this, they don't think it's a big deal.

hydroPWNic, I'll definetly try what you said, but I have a few questions.

You know when you're deep in mind wandering thought, and you almost feel like you're doing whatever you're doing (eg playing a sport) and then eventually you actually make the motion with your body (eg kicking a ball)? Is that how you're supposed to think about it?

I have this same problem but only when I'm focused on doing things like imagining walking down stairs or counting. What has worked for me so far in bringing me very close to WILDing has been to completely empty my mind and passively pay attention to (and kinda look past) patterns that form when my eyes are closed.

I'm new to WILD, however, I do know how WILD works. I usually let my mind wander a little, then after a while, I regain 'control' and I feel a weird vibe/buzz. I keep doing this in order to get deeper and deeper. And yeah, I like visualizing too in order to go deeper and still keep your mind awake.
      Sure, why not?
