You won't necessarily get HI, if you do, follow it and it should pull you into the dream. If you don't get HI, wait until you are totally paralyzed and try moving your dream body.
I tried it last night just before going to sleep (I was actually intending to try a VILD, but couldn't keep my mind focussed). It was something I couldn't even begin to imagine it would be like. I first started to get the tingliness in my feet, which in itself was like having them being massaged or in a footspa. Then came the rocking motion, almost as though I was on a water bed being gently pushed back and forth. Though my eyelids flicked open for a moment and I saw a big black shape, I panicked and pulled myself out of it. Turns out the black shape was actually my second blanket I'd kicked off that had bunched up between myself and the wall.
Does HI usually come around this time assuming I don't wake myself up?

Damn you Ocelot, I got no where last night. I have experienced the onset of SP before though. I think I was too awake to try and WILD.

Hey ocelotgrats on your progress ^^
SP onset feels amazing... it is liek a rollercoaster... It rocks xD
And bah, you have HI from the very moment you close your eyes, but it is so slight and subtle you usually don't notice. But by this time it should have increased already. What I say is, if you feel it's hard for you to watch HI (just like it is for me) then try focusing on something else, like your breath.
Saying quantum physics explains cognitive processes is just like saying geology explains jurisprudence.

The very concept of moving your dream body is amazing in that way, I can't believe I never found interest in this before.

Hehe, how long did you stay up for after waking? My SP experience happened before I ever went to sleep, when I did wake up at about 3 am I was just too zonked to try again, plus my mind was in another place.
One thing that worked really well for me in relaxing is trying that VILD method. It didn't work how I wanted it to, but it kept my mind alert yet calm while I was relaxing. After jerking awake I realised that 50 minutes had passed, it seemed like 20 at most. But anyway, don't give up, even though I haven't achieved my goal, it's all very worth it so far

Thanks! I was seeing the occasional little flash or very vague stream of light. I suppose I should've recognised that as HI. And I agree, it was fantastic, I'm going to to buy a pair of those doovers that cover your eyes while you sleep but don't interfere if your eyes happen to open (why the hell have I forgotten what they're called?) to help for the next time I try.
