You most likely entered a dream. When you feel that "jolt", slowly try to open your eyes and get out of bed. Do some RCs too.
Last night, I went to bed, and I was relaxing. When I felt relaxed enough, I tried the FILD technique, so I moved my fingers slightly, not much though, just enough so that I could feel the muscles twitching. After this, I found that I sort of drifted in and out, seeing shadows through my closed eyes, and maybe once or twice seeing a dark image of something.
Eventually, something just happened. I just sort of jolted. I felt like you do after waking up from a dream where you can't remember anything; you're just sort of standing there going, "whoa". That's what happened to me, and my head was turned to another side, and I felt like I was lying in a different position than usual, but I knew that I wasn't, because I could feel the pillow on my head.
Was this me waking up from something and not remembering anything, or was this actually some kind of form of entering a dream? I don't think it's the later because people say you see more vivid imagery (even though I'm not really one to see HI much), so I didn't think much of it, and I just went back to sleep.

Woa! Weird...I get this frequently as well when I'm taking naps and attempting FILD (which has yet to work for me unfortunately). I KNOW my head is perfectly straight but it feels as though it's bent at the weirdest angle, but if I focus on it too much I come back to the regular "head on pillow" feeling.
Does anyone know if this is indeed an indicator that I'm dreaming?
"Am I falling asleep, is it all just a dream? When the cars are like water, and the road is like a stream..."
its called vertigo i get that when i WILD. usually right before i enter the dream.

Sometimes I feel a bit like I'm spinning, or lying crooked at my bed. Should ignore this feeling?

I can't remember. I remember more like you do when you wake up after a night where you can't remember any dreams or anything, or when you take a nap. You might feel like you're fading off, but then suddenly, you're awake again, or something else wakes you up. I had that feeling, and I felt like I was lying a different way as well, but I knew that I wasn't.
